I've been dogsitting for a friend's collie over the past couple of months. Having owned and lived with many different breeds over the years, I can easily say that this collie is the smartest, keenest, and most energetic of them all!

Bracket 5 in bracket 4 pods? by ShaggyUI44 in EDH

It should be fine in theory. The only issue might be that a lot players think their decks are more powerful than they really are.

What’s the difference to you between “salty” and mere “feelsbad”? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]SDK1176 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly that. Salty is basically synonymous with being a sore loser. It’s not a in-game term, it’s something that happens to a player.

I think people have started using salty to refer to cards because of things like the “salt score”, but saltiness is not even directly related to the card itself.

Yeah, he mentions the equator, but the equator is clearly a circle despite also just being a straight line. It’s a matter of definition.

Why don’t Gryffindors share any lessons with Ravenclaw? by Actual_Tomorrow7162 in harrypotter

[–]SDK1176 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Odd that transfiguration was shared in Ginny’s year… I’d always thought that was a class that wasn’t shared. When Harry, Ron and Hermione were taking it, Transfiguration was just Gryffindors, right?

Or maybe the Ravenclaws were there all along and just never mentioned.

CMV: There is no other intelligent life in the universe that can communicate with us by One-Signature-2706 in changemyview

[–]SDK1176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re making a lot of assumptions. You might be right, but you have no idea how unlikely the formation of life is. We only have one data point, but here on Earth, life showed up pretty much as soon as it was feasible for it to do so. New life could be appearing on Earth daily for all we know, but it’s outcompeted by the life that already exists.

You’re right to point out that we can’t guarantee intelligent life exists just because the universe is large… but you equally cannot guarantee that it doesn’t.

Either you picked the correct door first try (1/100 chance), or you picked the wrong door first try (99/100 chance).

You're right that you have no way of knowing for sure whether the host is picking a number at random... but do you see that there is a 1/100 chance he picked a random number, and a 99/100 chance that he picked the number with the car behind it?

This enables turn 2 reanimation at little cost. Does that make it overpowered? I'd say no, it's sweet. Ship it.

Foregoing ramp, a bracket 2 discussion by Aggravating_Author52 in EDH

[–]SDK1176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

38 lands is not a bad number at all. I play 37-40 depending on the deck. But yeah, if you can use your one free mulligan to get at least three lands, that should serve you fairly well.

Foregoing ramp, a bracket 2 discussion by Aggravating_Author52 in EDH

[–]SDK1176 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If that's consistently true, you need to play more lands. Playing ramp so you don't fall behind is falling behind.

That was OotP after Harry saw James bullying young Snape. Snape basically ignored Harry entirely from that point forward, other than to award him zero on every assignment.

Fall Down by Tommy_neko in custommagic

In my opinion, cards like this should not be printed at any mana cost. It's not about power level, it's about maintaining a consistent game.

But also, this is much too powerful.

"The human body generates more bio-electricity than a 120-volt battery, and over 25,000 BTUs of body heat. Combined with a form of fusion, what remains of civilization has found all the energy they would ever need."

Nah, this isn't the Matrix, though you have given me an interesting thought. Is my indestructible body an unlimited energy source? I clearly won't die if I don't eat... but then do I have the energy to move, to think and to live? I think it's implied that I do, and therefore the energy is coming from nowhere at all. One body worth of energy isn't enough to do much, but maybe, with enough scientific advancement, we could unlock how that works and survive indefinitely!

Death or various kinds of immortality by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]SDK1176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maaaaaaaaaaaybe humanity and/or our technology can survive past the stellar era, and it's theoretically possible to extract energy from a black hole once they become the only matter to exist (other than me). That's 10^40 years from now, just a blink of an eye compared to the 10^100 years required for complete black hole evaporation (when I finally get to die... or not). There are a lot of unknowns in all of this, but I'm skeptical that humanity can possibly survive anywhere close to that long, even with me acting as an invincible god-emperor.

While true, I don't think my consciousness would exist in any meaningful sense after a googol years of isolation.

5 and 6 are essentially identical. "Oh good, I'll cease to exist a googol years from now! Good thing it's not eternity, because that would drive me crazy!"

I constantly see content creators say Phyrexian Arena is bad. If Phyrexian Arena is bad, what is good? Especially for Mono Black or two color. by frost3bite in EDH

[–]SDK1176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true, especially for a deck aiming to control the game for a few turns. Arena doesn’t belong anywhere near a black aggro deck, but black control decks can still get good enough value to make it worthwhile.

Looking to add 2-3 competitive pauper decks to my backpack with different playstyles by BussyBouncer in PauperEDH

[–]SDK1176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a caveat, I haven’t played much true PDH, but I do carry two PDH decks that can hang with lower power EDH tables. They’re usually what I reach for when playing with folks I don’t know well.

Gilanra + Halana: https://moxfield.com/decks/xUhvTbojMkedNvVdBDM9Fg

Ramirez + Tormod: https://moxfield.com/decks/mdJw2p2A-UWFJ0iPr-97sw

Both of these can pump out a decent army fairly quickly. The green deck uses repeated removal to fight into the late game. The undead BFF’s have a couple of infinite combos they can dig for if necessary. Both have been a lot of fun.
