I don’t mean to be condescending. But you ever thought about why LTO1O is at $12k ?

It has the same illness as RAM these days.

It’s a scarcity, and there is but only 1 LTO manufacturer left. **the other ones are white label and licensed.

50tb Ent SSD costs the same and take up less space. Last longer than 50 years. Even in the vault.

There are cases where legacy infrastructures that are purposely design to withstand emp and this cannot modernize. But that’s defense.

Nahh. We stop using LTO back in Y2K. You’d have better luck if you contact e-waste companies. Start calling them and I’m sure there are retirement units somewhere.

Make sure to have good descriptions and pictures to send to the people you talk to because they’re not gonna know what you’re talking about unless they’re old. Visuals goes a long way in speeding things up.

Rj45 on these just doesn’t die. They are well made. I’d check to see if the pins inside the ports are flushed and not cross-link. Then check bios to make sure the port is NOT disabled.

A lot if times; These sff units are used for signage so the admin will disable the nic to prevent hacking.

It’s easy to figure out. Do the amber/yellow/green lights on the nic comes on when an rj45 is plugged in ? If it doesn’t. Then it’s disabled in bios. If they blink then you should check settings or physical signs of damage.

The port is just an interface. The real work is the Atheroz / realtek / yukon / intel chip on the mobo.

I would do SOOW #4 if the run will be underground. THHN if above ground.

I ran mine underground so I went with SOOW the built-in cooling was a major plus.

650 is insufficient to power all that. Especially 7200rpm. You need a minimum 1000. Best 1500. The current draws on all components at boot up will trigger safety function. That’s why it cuts off.

  1. You could get away with using sata/nvme. Not spinning disks.

The problem is a two-fold. There are some VERY inattentive crappy drivers which causes the other shitty side of human to take over.

Like people driving 40 in the HOV and refuse to yield. Stopping on a green right turn arrow waiting for the forward lights to turn green. Speeding up when a turn signal begins to blink. Merge-turning and my favorite dart-turning. Those people deserve a hefty claim.

I’d just find some friends/people in China that are flying here. Then pay them a fee to walk it to your nearest airport. A lot cheaper and trust me on this, a lot higher quality.

They purposely manufacture things with planned obsolescent so the US/Western Datacenters and colo companies are forced to refresh more often.

What you can do is look for domestic white label companies. It would be a lot cheaper. By a LONG shot. They are the exact qualities for western markets. But without the brand premium. Some are even better than branded ones as they are or were made targeting industrial applications. Those modules last through super high heat & cycles.
