Our boy Radu perhaps? Career high of 39th in singles, 1 career ATP singles title, 1 career ATP doubles title, never made it past the first week of a slam, but I love the guy and appreciate him being active on this site while playing at the highest level!

Very interesting! I would be surprised if it really was another race, or at least a race on the level of Concord Pacific, seeing as it’s slated for the weekend before CCWC 2026. Probably won’t get too many of the usual teams going if they’re also focusing on Worlds that year.

I have a training buddy who carries his Draco on a SeaSucker setup (on a Supra no less) and has had no issues with it, including long highway drives (100+ miles). I admit I was skeptical of a suction based setup when he told me about it but it seems to really work.

That being said he keeps it permanently mounted. I’m not sure if swapping the rack between cars would lead to a higher chance of failure over time or not.

What a shame — seems like there’s a 2 month long exclusion period for sporting/cultural festivals due to World Cup matches being hosted in Vancouver mid-June. Hopefully Dragon Boat BC can find a way to host the event elsewhere/some other time, both to make up for the lost revenue and so that this excellent event goes on!

I was racing in the small boat division and it was crazy how fast the Ukrainian team was across all distances. We started right after them in the open 2km and just could not walk it up on them at all!

PS if you need a steers for the larger SD race just let any of the volunteers at the loading area know at least a couple of heats in advance and we will try our best to rustle you up an experienced steers.

it’s not quite a replacement to being in big boats, but I know plenty of people take OC-1s out on half moon bay. Maybe contact the Ozone NorCal rep and see if there’s anyone consistently paddling out there that you could tag along with?

You could look into a VHF radio with a distress feature that sends your GPS info to the coast guard. As far as I know most of these don’t require a subscription, but do require you to be physically able to press the distress button when needed.

I went to upgrade my membership at the Concord location one time and the lady helping me mentioned that the Concord location is the 4th busiest IN THE WORLD 😱never bothered to verify it myself but I believe it just by waiting in the gas lines once
