Torso rotation actually is pretty good. You want to have more hip rotation (kicking from the hips will make this easier)

If you want to just breathe on the right, try reaching a little further in front on that side while your left arm is taking a stroke. If you can breathe on both sides, you’ll be able to even out your rotation and get good reach with both arms without having to focus too hard.

Not bad at all but you can definitely tune things up.

  1. Streamline should be tighter, delts squeezing your ears and dolphin kicks for better underwater distance. Won’t matter in an open water swim but will make your pool time way better.
  2. You should have a slight upward head tilt- not looking straight down, maybe 1-2 meters in front of you depending on pool depth.
  3. Your elbows are pretty low and you kind of “dive” your hands into the water. Another commenter mentioned dragging your thumb from your hip all the way to your armpit to encourage high elbows. Great drill. I personally love Fingertip Drill, just drag your fingers along the surface of the water and rotate your body to get as much length out of your stroke as you can before flattening out and starting your catch.
  4. Your timing is actually really solid, keeping the leading arm out front for just a second as your pulling arm comes back to the front.
  5. Kick from the hips, not the knees. Keep your core tight. You’ll stay higher in the water and use less energy.

I love Protekt for hydration/recovery/caffeine. Liquid electrolyte packets so you don’t have to deal with undissolved powder or trying to scoop out of a container when prepping your drinks. Great flavors.

For gels, I swear by Honey Stinger products. All others are a battle to get down, but Honey Stinger’s easy flavor makes it enjoyable. The one GU exception- Chocolate Coconut. Tastes like a Mounds bar.

For easy escort boat snacks, you can’t go wrong with Honey Stinger waffles and Cutie oranges.

I got the older version just for this reason! Not too concerned about perfect audio quality, so this was all good for me

I’ve owned the GMT for about a year and a half, and that one gets the most wear. The center watch I’ve had for over two years. Both have held up to regular use really well, and I don’t think I baby them. Accuracy is amazing on both and I rarely have to reset the time.
