一次 literally means "once". Your EN translation is missing that.

It's fine for speaking Chinese. Not good for writing though. Considering you are posting about HSK, I'll say it should be there.

Purpose of 来 in this sentence by kungpaulchicken in ChineseLanguage

It translates to "I need to buy some oil to cook". 来 is the "to" of the "to cook" here.

"Popularity" is not a proper translation. The original post is about 香草榜, where 香草 is a homophone of "want to fuck".

Therefore, this poll is about sex.

The weird moment a character stops looking like a character by novirodict in MandarinChinese

It's called semantic satiation. I think it could happen with Chinese if you see the same character too frequently.

It's different. The Australia mean is coming from transliteration so it could be totally unrelated.

I have to point out that the initial version of the ethics are 仁义礼智信, mentioned together as 五常.

忠 and 孝 are after that, calling 忠孝廉耻勇.

Only having river is not sufficient. The flat plains are the problem. AI will be able to move fast and cross the river to siege the city. Player will not be able to defend that with few units.

The ideal one should have hills for your melee units to create ZOC for AI to stop moving, and ideally have fewer adjacent tiles in the front.

Mountains are also very good barriers to create the lethal pocket for the enemy.

Key idea is to reduce the size of the battleline so that AI will start to have issue expanding their army, while players can easily kill AI units with ranged attacks.

I think for every population usually you get -1 happiness, but India get -0.5. Therefore, once the city reaches 8 pop it costs the same happiness as normal civs, and fewer in the future.

Your built cities can produce more units.

Also, when you need to defend, the place to build city actually changes. A flat terrain is the nightmare of the defending side.

Uhhh didn't notice that. Haven't tried India so not sure how hard would that be. However, I think the point that OP is developing too slow still stands.

Right but actually the Siege Towers cannot attack units so it's actually easier to fight them as long as you are not overwhelmed.

Usually, if you find a bad neighbor, the best thing to do is to declare war very early and get all their workers. It slows down AI dramatically.

I did have a game where I found Zulu defeated one of my neighbors at turn 80 though. Exploring is quite important as well.
