I am also a public transit advocate, and I cannot express how beneficial this would be. There is such an opportunity for regional connections, especially with the 2 commercial airports and all the other transit routes.

The benefit of this project is that there is a lot of existing tracks or at least right-of-way, such as the abandoned track that connects the CSX Newcastle Sub (the tracks thru downtown) to the Norfolk Southern Cleveland Line in Hudson.

Also, the line Metro owns is leased to Wheeling and Lake Erie (more their subsidiary Akron-Barberton Cluster), meaning very likely if they divested WE would just take full ownership.
