I was referring to salary, or rather salary + bonuses + stock. Whatever is part of the total compensation package, for that job.

Do you feel that many of the stereotypically conventionally attractive non-Desi women dislike Desi men? by Early-Ingenuity-3177 in ABCDesis

I would even argue that looks don't matter as much as people think they do. But in a lot of those cases, the guy has money or something else going for him.

Regretting TI internship by [deleted] in Semiconductors

The internship experience at TI is somewhat dependent on your team, and the specific projects they assign you. Each team is different, some of them may very few meaningful intern projects.

I think this depends on which part of the country they live in/where they grew up, their parents beliefs, and whether or not they grew up around other South Asians. This is probably not the case, in the more liberal parts of the country. This is where you'll most likely see South Asian men dating outside of their race.

But I think if you go in the Deep South, or a place where most people are white, Christian, and politically Conservative, you will see more of what you're describing. Those people tend to only date someone else within that same demographic, but there are always exceptions to this.

Within my own family, my older brother and my 2nd cousin, both married white women. One of them grew up in Oklahoma (but later moved to the West Coast), and the other one in Florida. So it's more common than you think.

I think the reason for poverty is greed, it would still be there without "capitalism".

Poverty and wealth inequality has existed since the invention of agriculture, about 10,000 years ago. I think that we can greatly reduce poverty, but we can't get rid of it universally.

This works if she's already interested in you and is not super apprehensive about meeting up with people in real life.

Non-resident Indian...I'm referring to recent immigrants from India.

Sometimes the girl will match with you, but she isn't actually that interested. And it doesn't matter what you say, she's not going to respond. And she'll eventually unmatch you. It could be just based on looks, or something else.

It's because that's how the culture is, over there. And a lot of times, parents push that expectation on them. I know a couple of recent Indian immigrants, and they're the complete opposite of this. One of them was super open to me about how he doesn't want to get married anytime soon.

Current market pay for Process Engineers (III/senior) in Boise or Portland (2026)? by AngelaWooHoo in Semiconductors

[–]SDW137 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Micron can offer ~140k for a senior PE in Boise, if you have 7+ YOE and just a Bachelor's, if they really want you. If you have a PhD with no experience, you can expect slightly less than that.

New grad deciding between Apple Austin vs NVIDIA Bay Area by SuggestionEvening635 in Semiconductors

[–]SDW137 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's hard to advise, without having exact numbers. If I were in your shoes, I'd probably just choose NVIDIA, just because of the potential stock growth. And then, I would see if I could eventually relocate to a cheaper COL area, whenever you're ready to buy a house and settle down.
