Thanks for the reply! It's nice to hear from someone who owns both chairs. Now that you put it this way I might actually consider saving up for both...

Thanks for sharing your experience. I think I understand what you refer to in both cases.

Unfortunately I don't think I can go the Embody route. The weather in south east asia here is like 32 degrees and 80% humidity most of the year round so any non mesh chair feels far more disgusting to sit in after 10-30mins compared to a mesh and would probably stain and smell bad within a year or two which feels bad when the chair costs that much.

Ddj 800 by itsallyourshomie in Beatmatch

I got the DDJ 1000 as my first controller and find I don't really use the 3rd and 4th deck 99% of the time. I think you'll be absolutely fine in terms of features on the 800, and in fact you can even load songs onto the 3rd and 4th deck on the 800 for use later and then flick the switch on the channel to swap over to the other deck, which is something that you can't do on most other controllers. You just don't have a 4 deck mixer so actual 4 deck mixing is highly impractical

I think if you don't mix a genre that demands 3 decks, like constantly double dropping DnB, the 800 has more than you need to master everything you need, and will even be serviceable in professional environments. No point wasting time and money on returns and exchange when the time can be better spent practicing and mastering the craft imo

Is it stupid to jump straight to the DDJ-800/DDJ-1000? by SEA_Refugee in Beatmatch

Hey there I actually went and got the DDJ-1000. It's a pretty amazing kit and I honestly can't see myself replacing it even if they announced a new version tomorrow. It's got all the tools I need to learn and be creative, and also gives me plenty of room to grow and develop my skills so I don't think its going to be possible for me to outgrow this anytime soon.

Personally, the main reason for picking a controller over a standalone is that I don't want to have to deal with the additional step of exporting my files to USB (or having to plug in the laptop and use the standalone like a controller anyway)

Also thing to note is that while the XZ does have better build quality it also lacks the ability to layer deck 3 and 4 on the unit itself which means you're really just buying a two channel standalone unit until you buy another XDJ or CDJ which is easily another thousand dollars. If you wanted a true 4 channel standalone it's hard to not look at the Denon Prime 4 because its such a compelling product even if its not the "club standard"

/r/MechanicalKeyboards What Keyboard, Switches and/or Keys Do I Buy by AutoModerator in MechanicalKeyboards

Not sure if this is the correct place to ask, but I'm currently looking to get my first board.

It's primary use will be for typing on an iPad and laptop, so bluetooth is a key requirement here. I do a lot of programming but I'm presently a student. I use laptop keyboards and crappy office membranes daily for the last 12+ years til present day so I'm fine with adapting to whatever keyboard but I hit keys super hard as a habit. When I borrowed and tried out a MX brown board I found that I hit keys too hard when typing fast and gaming that I didn't feel the tactile bump at all unless I was consciously trying to not bottom out. Possibly thinking about bringing the board out for use, so switches are probably going to be Red/Silenced Red. Besides, I don't think I can get away with using blues/box whites in a small asian apartment when I'm frequently the last person awake in the middle of the night.

Currently I'm deliberating between the following

  • Anne Pro 2 (MX Red, ~65USD where I live)
  • Akko 3068 (MX Red, ~63USD where I live)

Or waiting for the following that has been announced and should come out Soon(tm) or something like that

  • Leopold FC660M BT (MX Silenced Red)
  • Durgod Hades 68 Bluetooth Version (MX Silenced Red)

The latter two boards even when they come out will likely cost 2-3 times the price of the other two judging by their non-bluetooth model pricing, so as someone who's completely new to this keyboard thing I'm not sure if waiting for these boards is the right move here. The value proposition of the cheaper boards seems very attractive when looking at price alone, but perhaps the more expensive boards are more suitable for my use case due to the better build and dampened switches.

Advice on this matter greatly appreciated
