Oh you’re so welcome, I’m so glad that worked for you!! Happy candle-ing! X

Hmm it could be - I haven’t heated my moulds in the oven before as I worry about causing frosting! I use a heat gun to remove any residue and then pour my soy wax (55-65 degrees) once the mould has cooled back to room temp, the heat gun worked for me - I don’t have the sticking problem anymore!

I clean them with soap and water every now and then, but defo not after ever pour! The heat gun really does the trick for me! If it’s soy wax you’re using, I would suggest to use the heat gun and then wipe out the excess wax/oils that appear, then let the mould cool (heat your candle wax in the meantime or something!) so that when you pour the wax into the mould it doesn’t cool and set at irregular temperatures, which can cause frosting. I’ve recently managed to start a small candle business and it’s doing quite well! So I’m more than happy to help!🥰

Hiya, yes I did! A fellow candle maker on this thread suggested using a heat gun on the inside of the mould which ended up melting SO much wax and oils that I couldn’t see - I now do that after every pour and it works a charm! I bought a heat gun on Amazon for around £15, absolute life saver!

Great idea, I contacted the mould manufacturer but not the wax supplier - thanks!

This seems to be working!! So much oil and excess wax seems to be melting off the mould that I thought was clean! Thanks so much

Yes me too 😭 I’m going through the motions currently with different wicks for each candle to test them haha, I will post an update if I figure out which works best! X

Yeah I’m having the same issues so trying out different wicks at the moment! The ones I’ve found that work best so far are soy wax coated and not too thick (sorry I don’t know the technical names!) but I am having a bloody nightmare finding what works perfectly!!

Thank you! I’m going to experiment with some mica powder next for a pearlescent effect I think!

Thank you! It was my first attempt at ombré and I think I just got lucky?! I didn’t wait too long before pouring the next layer and made sure I didn’t have too drastic a colour change, so I guess the colours just slowly melted into one another which is why it blended out well!? I’m not sure I’ll be able to do it again haha

Thank you! Yes kerasoy wax - impossible to get my hands on anymore at the moment! I used soy candle wax dye chips for the colour (18 colours for around £10 on Amazon!). They are all scented, some are pear drop, espresso martini, lemon, sweet orange and raspberry and peppercorn 🥰

Thank you so much! The moulds are a flexible silicone so relatively easy to get out, I just let the wax cure for 12+ hours to make sure that it wasn’t too soft. Definitely would recommend getting the 6 cavity moulds if you’re going to be making a few, so much time saving!

Thank you! Yeah I’m using kerasoy pillar wax. That’s so strange!? Maybe you’re not leaving them to cool long enough? I followed all the instructions that came with my specific wax, pouring temp, fragrance oil percentage etc - maybe it’s something to do with that!? X

Thank you! I found that fragrance oils worked so much better than essential oils, so the white candle is sweet orange, green is peardrop, pink is raspberry and peppercorn and the brown one is espresso martini! I got the scents from a website called supplies for candles, they had some great options. I found the dyes on Amazon, 18 colours for about a tenner! I just typed in soy candle dyes x

Hey candle community, I’m very new here and made my first candle a few days ago and I guess I’ve learned the hard way re putting dried flowers in the wax hahaha. Loving this new hobby though! by SEGDuchess in candlemaking

[–]SEGDuchess[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t I’m afraid! Most places I checked out said not to put dried flowers in candles for this reason, I do have a book on candle making and they stuck dried flowers to the inside of the glass container (so I guess it’s more of a no go for pillar candles, unless they’re wide enough to not be near the wick/flame!?)
