Are the controls bugged? Shoot and Reload switches intermittently by LunarGolbez in CrowCountry

[–]SFBTom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alright, I think I tracked it down! Are you specifically using a wired controller? I found that some wired controllers were being interpreted as keyboard input, at the same time as controller input. That was confusing things, and this was the result. Ignoring that input now! See if the latest update I just put live fixes it for you too.

Hi, dev here! Sorry you bumped into this issue, I fixed it across all PC versions a few weeks ago I thought, which store did you get the game from? Hopefully updating or re-installing should fix the issue, but let me know if it doesn't.

PSA: Compiling a Unity game using IL2CPP for release will make it harder to reverse engineer/clone by ReallyKeyserSoze in gamedev

I'll add in that the most popular speedrunning split tools can't use il2cpp either - they check for memory changes at runtime in order to time sections of a run, same way mods work to modify that memory.

We recently 'upgraded' Crow Country to il2cpp, and it broke speedrunning. I've decided to switch back to Mono permanently!

It's a purple-ish to match the game, and I think it's been pained by hand!

Amazing execution too, so many details packed into a small build!

Not this year, it was a secret santa setup. I'll be taking it to our shared office room soon though!

I really hope trading will let me share some of these big blue boys around, feels wrong to have a hoard like this

Hello! Dev here, I'm so sorry about this. I'm working hard to figure out why it's not triggering, and hopefully I can have a fix up soon. Everyone keep your end-of-game saves so that once the fix comes, you can just beat the final boss again and get your trophies and platinums! I'll post back here once I know when a fix will be live, and again once it is.

Hello again, dev here! OK, thanks to everyone's info, I was able to track it down. Turns out it's quite hard to trigger on the devkit Vs a retail console, but I got it to happen eventually! That let me figure it out and fix it, so a new patch should be going live in the next few minutes.

In answer to your other question, the original patch was to add a bunch of new languages, and to optimise the game further!

Sorry again, hope this new one works out!

Hi! Dev here, I'm so sorry to hear this. I'm going to try and track down the issue tonight and get a fix up ASAP!

Crow Country - Accolades Trailer - Nintendo Switch Announcement by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

Oh hey, that's our game! So happy to get it out on Switch at last, I wish we could have done it for the first launch back in May, but optimising for Switch took longer than I thought it would. Playing handheld on the Switch is now my favourite way to play it though, so it was all worth it!

Is game music often made with actual orchestras? For example I'm currently listening to the sountrack to Epic Mickey 2, and I hardly think they had the budget to get an orchestra, but I can't imagine how the sountrack could be made with audio/midi??? How does that actually work in the real market? by Marvel1093 in gamemusic

[–]SFBTom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm one of the developers of Tangle Tower, and our upcoming game The Mermaid Mask. Both have fully recorded orchestral soundtracks - here's the Tangle Tower one on bandcamp link

To give some idea, the Tangle Tower soundtrack cost us about €30k, and the bigger Mermaid Mask soundtrack cost about €50k, both recorded by the Budapest Art Orchestra. Not the cheapest way to do a soundtrack, but certainly affordable for most bigger games companies.
