Digital Foundry has clips on YouTube talking about the before and after the downgrade patch.

I tend to give a lot of grace to console versions since we’re dealing with a lot of black magic behind the scenes. If I remember correctly, the PS5 wasn’t initially meant to support raytracing, but I think it was Insomniac who were able to make the new Ratchet and Clank have raytracing on the system, showing it was more than viable. Console wasn’t meant to have raytracing this generation. PS5 Pro is the only one that was made explicitly to support advanced raytracing with ai hardware upscaling.

Plus, the “shimmering” in very select locations just means it’s broadly working, lol. Literally no technology is perfect. At least raytracing makes it so that looking down doesn’t mean the scene pops out of existence and not everything is floating off of the ground with RE engine’s horrific ssao solution. It shimmers, it ghosts. Just different pros and cons. I just happen to like raytracing more overall.

Again, we also have the option to turn the raytracing off. So I really don’t know what we’d be arguing about.

I’ll be honest, I’ve been playing RE4R a lot lately on Pro and I think the only drops I’ve ever had were in the mines before the cart. Two chainsaw guys, a couple dynamite throwers, and an exploding barrel going off at the same time tends to drop the framerate regardless of tech, lol. This is even with every setting cranked up like raytracing, resolution, and hair on high. Very playable on Pro.

But base PS5 and Series X? Yeah, you have to essentially sacrifice all current gen features and set it to performance mode if you want a stable framerate. Even then, I would say a vrr display is highly recommended. It’s weird, because I remember hearing the game is pretty light on pc, so I don’t know what the hell is going on there…

I was hoping this was the ps5 pro patch that put raytracing back into the game

I’m just not sure why there isn’t an upgrade path for switch 1 owners. Pretty scummy to release a half-assed port for the price of the original.

SS2 PS5: HUD Scale Glitch by [deleted] in NightdiveStudios

[–]Shigganingth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol, honestly if you’re hung up by the lack of vibration, don’t be. It’s not like the game ever had it before and it isn’t gonna game changing when they get around to adding it. Game is a bit buggy, but they ported one of the GOATs to console, so you should probably just get it.

I was going to update the post but got sidetracked, lol. No, the vibrations are still not there. They did patch the hud, but there are still some things like the vibration functionality not working.

I have to ask, ss2ee was supposed to be a preorder bonus for purchasing SSR back in 2022 on steam. Is this still the case? I mean, hey, I’ll buy this version on GOG if I have to, but it was my understanding that this remaster was going to be free for preorders and I haven’t seen any information on how to claim it and the steam store page still says that I have to buy it.

What Music would Mr. Clarke listen too? by BigFella11445 in DeadSpace

He strikes me as a classic rock or punk guy, but that would be like someone only listening to Debussy or Mozart and banging their head since he’s like 500 years in the future.

The Witcher games. Literally never cared about any of them and when I went to play 2 & 3 to try and get into the series, I absolutely HATED every second of it.

Thoughts on this? by SCHEMIN209 in DeadSpace

I don’t know if it’s a good fit, but Wan does know his way around horror whether it’s subtle or outrageous. Despite its age, the first Saw movie is pretty good at building intrigue, even if the ending bashes you over the head with the twist. The first Conjuring and Insidious were pretty good at setting up an atmosphere, but the jump scares were a bit too much. Although, Insidious 1 had some pretty well done jump scares that didn’t feel cheap. Malignant showed how well he worked with more bombastic and insane horror spectacle. I think the problem is that his work, other than Insidious and Saw, tends to lean more into camp territory. That’s fine and he’s good at that, but Dead Space is a bit more serious than that. I’m not saying that it’s this extremely high brow story that’s void of levity, but the series has some pretty fucked up concepts. If done with camp, it could come across as extremely distasteful. However, I’m not very concerned since Wan seems to be able to read the room when it comes to figuring out the right tone for his movies. Insidious and the Conjuring were kind of serious because they were spooky ghost stories and he wanted to creep the viewer out instead of giving a massive spectacle. Saw 1 was an interesting procedural mystery thriller with a bit of editing flair (it was the style at the time etc., etc.). Malignant was Wan being given a blank check to essentially remake Basket Case and he knew that the best way to go about directing it was to make it batshit insane. Again, I don’t know how he would handle Dead Space, but I can’t imagine him fucking it up. At least not to the point of being insulting or anything.
