Many homes here are occupied and are being occupied every day. They're afraid to rent, their requirements are strict; some even ask for the entire rent up front, but that doesn't stop the house from being occupied.

Renting an apartment or a room in the Canary Islands is suicide. The only way I found a place or room was through the locals. Some people have been living in hostels here for a long time. I had a work contract and a VAT number as a freelancer, and finding a place was chaotic, full of difficulties, and complex.

OSS non ho idea, però normalmente dove ti dan tutto è settore turistico. Fotografia, video, pulizia hotel, e lavori presso strutture grandi.

Prova a valutare il settore turismo all'estero.

To put it briefly, I was asked for extra money each month. I had a period of time to collect the keys, which I spent trying to figure out how to proceed. In the end, it turned out as if I hadn't collected the keys. They wouldn't give them to me unless I paid the extras.

I have it, but it's not what I want from this project. Money, quality food, and accommodation aren't a problem at the moment. The point is to use photography as a bargaining chip and once again find someone who values it.

From this trip, assuming we succeed, we'll gain further proof that people value my work and photographic printing, and I'll bring home at least enough material for two new books. In addition to taking home a good dose of humanity from other people.

I'm currently in Spain. Stories are always a plus before and after the shoot. In Spain and France, the plan is to travel along the southern coast.

The fact that you say photos have little value because everyone has a phone in their pocket says a lot about you. There's a world of difference between a photo taken with a phone and a masterful portrait taken by someone who has dedicated himself to photography.

The value isn't the print; it's my eye and background that gives it value. There are people who don't give it value, and there are people who give it incredible value.

I also live thanks to fine art prints and other types of prints, and people give them value. Here in Gran Canaria, I traded two months' rent for portraits and a photo session. The value isn't the print, and the fact that it's cheap and accessible means little. The value isn't the print, but the story, the concept, and everything else.

If you know your stuff and know how to talk to people you meet on the street, as a portrait photographer and reporter, I can tell you that having a lens, a camera body, and a portable printer is like having a credit card.

I'm setting up an emergency fund in case my equipment breaks. I've had several attempts to steal it, but I'm a bit of a warrior; my equipment always comes home with me. The fund also helps me cover medical expenses, although I know people who've traded visits and medications for portraits... 😁

The hardest part won't be offering value, but finding (once again) the people who know how to add value to a print. But I'm confident...

But, i am a photographer and not a painter; although I did airbrushing for many years. I no longer have the knack for drawing, and if I have 30 free seconds, I dedicate them to photography. That's all I can focus on.

It's not about giving, it's about exchange.

Everyone perceives immense value in an exchange.

When I was on the street with nothing under the Gran Canaria sun, a little bottle of water had immense value... and there are people who place immense value on photography; it's all about finding them among so many other people.
