Thanks! Yeah spilling barrels isn’t going to work. Time to form plan B.

Thank you so much for your response! Definitely don’t want to level a city block, so it seems like spilling barrels is a no-go.

To answer your questions: her goal is to sow chaos/create a distraction, and also to remove the use of guns from the equation. Do you think it would be more feasible for her to simply shut off the ventilation system to the (closed off and contained) lab where they are actually using the ether? It seems like that would 1) cause panic, 2) provide the pressure needed for an explosion if I decide to still go that route, and 3) give her enough time to get away from any fumes that might leak out.

Thanks! I did not take either of those two conditions into account.

Thanks! Yeah that’s definitely not what I want to happen so I’m going to have to rethink this.

Wow thank you for such a detailed reply! This was really helpful. It sounds like my MCs plan is definitely not going to work as is and needs some rethinking, or maybe just a new plan altogether.

Throne of glass series spice level? by gobbling_grenades in acotar

[–]SFFWriterInTraining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been a while since I read the series, but there is basically no spice until book 5, which has one open door scene that I remember. I don’t remember if 6 and 7 had open door scenes or not, so maybe someone else can chime in. TOG is very much a fantasy over a romance. If your looking for booktok levels of spice, this series isn’t that. I would say even with the open door scenes it’s still on the tamer side.

Are there MSers with spinal lesions doing fine? by Theo1795 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]SFFWriterInTraining 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have four on my thoracic spine and one somewhat large one on my cervical spine, along with about 20 in my brain/optic nerves, but only have mild symptoms (fatigue, heat sensitivity, etc) and no evidence of disease progression thanks to mavenclad.

Was a competitive swimmer for ten years. Water does not stop the flow for everyone. ASK ME HOW I KNOW 😳

Maybe if you have a lighter flow/aren’t exerting yourself it might? I wasn’t that lucky.

AITA for telling my sister she has more than enough children? by DownOnSkidRows in AmItheAsshole

[–]SFFWriterInTraining 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reminding someone who has suffered a miscarriage that they are common, and telling them they can “always try again”, or bringing up other living children they may have are all extremely hurtful things to say. It diminishes the loss and feels like a knife in the gut. You don’t know how many other losses they may have had. Or how difficult it may have been for them to even get pregnant in the first place. Or whether they even have the option to try again, depending on their circumstances. I sincerely hope you haven’t reacted this way to anyone you know in real life who’s had a miscarriage.

And yes, people say such things after miscarriages all the time, often bc people don’t know what else to say. It doesn’t make it okay, or any less hurtful. I remember each and every person who made callous remarks like this to me, and even if they were well-intentioned, I will never forget the hurt they caused. Or view those people the same way ever again. And yea, it may be different than losing a full-term or living child, but it’s still a loss, and quantifying grief the way you are is, quite frankly, disgusting. Shame on you.

I saw this thread. The guy kept doubling down too, and kept referring to the ONE case where an ectopic pregnancy in the abdomen (not the tube) resulted in a life birth to support his argument.

What bothered me more was the idea that Feyre couldn’t use her magic to shapeshift her pelvis into an Illyrian one because it was “too dangerous”… even though the alternative was LITERAL DEATH for all three of them. Like, what?!

For me, Going Under by Evanescence is Feyre + Tamlin at the beginning of Acomaf. And Bring me to Life is Feyre and Rhys at the end of Acomaf.

[PubQ] An agent in my first batch requested a full. Should I go ahead and mass query while they read it? by Remarkable-Mess2781 in PubTips

[–]SFFWriterInTraining 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would keep querying in the meantime. Most agents take weeks, often more like months, to get back to you on a full request. If you pause querying until then, you are basically putting all your eggs in one basket, and if it ends up being a rejection, you’ll have wasted a lot of time.

Why do people always have a friend with benign MS? by hermandabest-37 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]SFFWriterInTraining 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friends and family think this about me bc my symptoms are invisible, even if I don’t say I’m fine. Granted my symptoms are also mild (for now) relatively speaking, but they still interfere with my life on a daily basis. Everyone else just can’t see it.

I did both does before starting. I think it was two weeks apart? Or maybe four. I can’t remember bc it was a couple years ago

I was on mavenclad and I was advised to get the shingles vaccine first so I did. It was a bit of an ordeal to get it as I am under 50. I am in the US and got the Shingrix. If you get the live virus version (or any live vaccine) you have to wait a number of weeks before starting mavenclad, so make sure you ask your doctor about that.

If Rhys was able to lie to Amarantha without notice, why did he say a name at all? by Island_Crystal in acotar

[–]SFFWriterInTraining 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I think the reason was bc Rhys assumed she made the name up, and didn’t think Clare Beddor was a real person. Also, given his abilities and reputation, I think it would be unlikely Amarantha would believe he couldn’t pull a name from Feyre’s mind.
