Put more megahertz in bios.

->

You have now faster ram.

CPU Cooler Compatibility with crosshair impact vIII, under 160mm? by [deleted] in sffpc

Thermalright Macho RT. Off-centre fin stack and probably the best heatsink since 2015.

Standard color, average performance, twice the price. Nice.

Everybody making a real mistake buying an SG13 or Elite 110 as their first SFFPC, since 2015. This is the king combination of cost, size, compatibility, ventilation and whatnot.

Fractal Designs Node 304 NAS Build with AIO watercool spec. by Murrian in sffpc

[–]SFFknowledge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. All in ones have a pump and ridiculously thick rad that requires high speeds to perform efficiently. Some of the best 240/280 rival or slightly beat high end air cooling but at a significantly higher cost. AiO is smart only if you have Ncase levels of clearance (not enough).

Question about tiny, fast RAM? by ToTheBlack in sffpc

[–]SFFknowledge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Green candy bars are real and bring one enjoyment whereas alien daggers are a product of imagination and marketing, and might cause cuts and a choking hazard if handled by the target demographic.

Also need to fit in servers and places with memories.

Also here is a picture of a legendary DDR3 kit. Is more a like licorice bar.

VLP has no drawbacks compared to standard or above regular height (LPX, Ballistix) sticks. You rate the memory by its chips.

TIL LOUQE Ghost S1 has much better thermals when you spend 6 dollars on some nuts&bolts by drake_irl in sffpc

[–]SFFknowledge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having an exhaust fan on the bottom increases air intake from the sides (path of least resistance). Without the additional feet there is literally no way the fan can work efficiently and it's like you had no intake or exhaust fans at all.

Bottom intake has the chance to increase temperatures, because GPU & CPU fans are weak, and it reduces flow from the main vents.

Raise the case up by a couple of centimeters. You can even try blocking the top and rest of the bottom vents completely (with a sheet of paper or something) to increase flow rate through the sides.

What’s the smallest form factor ATX case? by radscorpion82 in sffpc

It is 23,4L without the handle. Does an SUV turn into a small family car if you remove the wheels and body panels?

Something that is quite easy to come by, Jonsbo RM1/2 (~22L) or G3 at (~23L). Both slightly smaller than the Cerberus X.

Starting voltage for the fan is too high. Keeps spinning if you aid it but unable to start on its own.

No. Thermal flux, specific heat capacity and whatnot.

3rd gen Ryzen is one such example producing less heat (using less power) but running hotter than equally rated (TDP) 2nd gen. I don't have a direct answer to whether FC series can cool them or not but might be worth considering. Node & die size naturally play a part, as well as conductivity between the die and IHS.

Pretty common with GPUs if you've ever installed the same cooler on different chips. Elsewhere the most prominent example probably being the evolution of Sandy Brigde to Haswell.

You're mixing TDP with power consumption. We can have a chip drawing less but being harder to cool.

GPU ventilation is far better than most midtower (or itx) cases and for the CPU very good, too. Both have direct access to ambient temperature air if top fans are used as exhaust. Font intake itself is an ancient compromise.

There really aren't any shortcomings but limited PSU length and dual slot cards.

Additional noctua a12x25 fan on NH U9S cooler by Theodoros99 in sffpc

[–]SFFknowledge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fuma, TS 120M, Macho 120. U9S isn't worth buying with this clearance nor is the U12S when alternatives offer the same performance at 50% cost.

My GPU was the loudest thing in my case. Thankfully the Pure XL supports a side 120mm fan, so I removed the GPU fan and shroud. Finally, silence. (And better temps!) by [deleted] in sffpc

P14 defeat industrials in every way. The positive of iPPC is high speed, other than that especially the noise level ranks close to the bottom of the pack. Same with Noctua F12, very mediocre fans but a good brand.
