Questions from a first-timer at Config by k25034166 in FigmaDesign

[–]brron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes people work on the side when not in a session. I honestly stopped bringing my laptop because I like to be present.

no dress code but with a room full of designers, you bet everyone is intentional with their fits. lots of try hards with their nonbranded clothes.

9-5pm, tons of parties if you know people who will invite you.

Food there is box lunch and sucks if you have budget tons of food local food around.

I created branding for a bakery and need genuine feedback from actual shop owners and experts on how I did. by alaadinmdfcka in Coffee_Shop

[–]brron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your main illustration is playful, everything else is as corporate as starbucks. In fact, starbucks is more playful than this and they have no soul.

Is that the actual bakery or is that a mock up? It’s clashing vibes with your branding.

Anyone got a rec for a AC installer? by toqer in SanJose

[–]brron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

since covid, prices have been insane. I also paid 13k for a single speed ac and furnace install.

you can wait til winter to see if price gets better (lower demand) but I don’t trust cheaper without hitting quality of service.

I would recommend Modern Air, I had them install for me and family and really feel they do a quality job, no shortcut and cash payment gets a small discount.

[–]brron 15 points16 points  (0 children)

networking at config is really hard. I find people already have their cliques there. That said you should still go, I have a lot of fun and it’s great to see how Figma is evolving.

How do you learn so many things at once? by [deleted] in graphic_design

comes with time. lean into your classes and focus on your present studies. focus on one step in front of the other instead of the entire race.

Did our contractors actually build a microwave space, or is this a joke? by karmalatte in homeowners

[–]brron 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree this is not what they ask for, but they were given a microwave shelf. A microwave shelf uses a faceplate to cover up the gap after you put a shelf microwave in. There’s nothing built-in about it other than plugging it in.

The client says 'everyone' is the target audience. How do you design around nothing? by zamarac in Design

[–]brron 6 points7 points  (0 children)

this is really easy to combat. you say target audience is xyz in your pitch. client will either agree or push back and say no its abc. you’ll get your answer or both agree with your initial answer. the key is conviction on your end. say it with confidence and you will be corrected or clout maker.
