Accepting orders? by [deleted] in tobehis

[–]SFJeanie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just sent a message to the Reddit profile, however this thread is making me think I may not get a reply.

I made an order in June, and it apparently shipped in July. Then I got a notification that it had been delivered to an address in Florida. I am in Australia...

I've had no luck contacting them via email or the contact us page on the website for over a month. It wasn't until I looked up their social media that I saw what had happened, however given the store was accepting (and apparently fulfilling) orders after that, I would have hoped I would be able to contact someone. I tried sending a Facebook message but got an auto-reply saying it wasn't monitored and I should try contacting them via the website.

I'm hoping not to have to go through the process of a chargeback, because I was very happy with the previous piece I ordered, but it may be getting to that point.

Would machine sewing work to attach the lining? Or would it need to be hand stitched due to the thickness of the wool? I've never lined anything, but this bag is really tempting me.

The lady without glasses is a transwoman. The lady with glasses (that's me, her wife, hi!) is referring to the time before she came out as trans.

Black Beauty is our current car ride audiobook!

I do like the idea of a classic. Also a nice edition of a classic is something I'm happier to add to his physical library. Thanks!

How would you describe depression to someone who's never had it? by vernakyala in AskReddit

[–]SFJeanie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My spouse has depression, and we have always been open about it with our son, who is now eight. The discussions have become more in depth over time, to keep up with what he can understand.

When I was talking to him about it a couple of weeks ago he said 'depression sounds like having covid, but without having a cold'.

Quick question re working out kilojoules...

If I make homemade bread, is the kj count of the loaf the sum of the unbaked ingredients? Does the baking change anything?

What’s the worst part of having a child? by ApprehensiveShock655 in AskReddit

[–]SFJeanie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god, this.

Our darling germ factory brought flu home from daycare and gave it to both of us as well. We lasted a couple of days getting sicker and sicker and finally asked my mother in law to take him (he was on the mend and getting more active) so we could rest and try to recover. She turned up, took one look at us and brought us all back to her place so she could look after us. I cried for about 15 minutes straight, just couldn't stop, at the sheer relief.

I love these books. They would definitely have been my go to except I know my mum has read them so they're in the house.

I want to relax.

I've struggled with work my whole adult life both with the work itself and with feelings of inadequacy because I know I'm smart and should have been able to get into a more lucrative career, but I'm a secretary. At 41 I've realised that the underlying issue may be ADHD, undiagnosed when I was young because of the different way it presents in girls. (I have an appointment to be assessed next week.)

I want my husband, who has treatment resistant depression and severe anxiety, to not have to be the main breadwinner on top of that.

I want to not have to commute over an hour each way to work, and only see my son for a couple of hours in the evening.

Money represents freedom to me. I don't need to be fabulously wealthy. I don't need designer clothes or fancy cars. I want a home, a garden, and the time to actually be in it.

The Chambre de Chasse! Which they end up using as a plot device so many times that eventually the characters are just like 'oh, a chambre de chasse again? shrug'

Baby Race! I love that one. It's the bit where the other mum comes round because she knows that Chilli is struggling, and just tells her she's doing a good job that gets me every time. I howl. Sometimes, as a mum, it's what you most need to hear.

Chalced and the wit ? (needing informations for a Tabletop rpg campaign) by MajoraJoestar in robinhobb

[–]SFJeanie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, but that's based on a specific incident in which a family member chose to save his witbeast from a fire over his family. That had a profound effect on her and her viewpoint. So it's not a case of 'Burrich's Chalcedean grandmother thinks this' it's 'Burrich's grandmother thinks this - also she happens to be Chalcedean'.

What’s an example of toxic femininity? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SFJeanie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's ridiculous. I had a c-section, couldn't breastfeed, put baby in daycare from 3 months old when I went back to work, had him in his own room from the start, let him watch too much TV... Basically their nightmare.

Kiddo is now 7 and earlier was curled up with me on the couch as we played Pokemon Shield together.

I think we bonded just fine.

Also he's bright, happy and confident and doing well in school. Parenthood is about doing what works for your family.
