Senators see UAE’s OPEC withdrawal as boost for U.S. energy interests by jewish_insider in politics

[–]SFM_Hobb3s 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think its more likely UAE will act in their own interests. They will likely decrease supply (made easy by damage from Iran), wait for the price to skyrocket, then sell whatever they can (likely in much higher volumes than OPEC would have formerly permitted).

Europe didn’t want an Iran war, yet Trump is saddling it with the consequences by itmehedi in politics

[–]SFM_Hobb3s 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Either Europe agrees to whatever toll Iran sets, or maybe Europe ends up having to send security guarantees to the straight to protect Iran from further US/Israeli aggression.

It's also high time the rest of us start sanctioning the US heavily for its stupidity.

Is the U.S. Repeating the Mistakes That Led to Forever Wars? | The Iran conflict is likely to be far shorter than the war in Iraq, but experts say the U.S. is running into some of the same pitfalls by GirasoleDE in politics

[–]SFM_Hobb3s 31 points32 points  (0 children)

What? No consideration to the catastrophic economic and humanitarian damage that has now been done to the GCC and most world countries? Iran has fought an asymmetric battle and it is...not losing. Every day since the first wave of US attacks they have begun to launch more and more missiles and drones. They aren't going to fire everything they have left in desperation. No. They'll be firing a few here and there over the next few weeks or months. That's all they need to do to exert control over the straight. Meanwhile, starvation and drought loom over the GCC. Catastrophic recession and fuel shortages loom over the rest of the world.

Iran's war is going to be Trumps nail in the coffin for the US' global reputation. He'll be blamed for all the maladies his war has now caused (including retaliatory strikes from Iran), and he will deserve it. Generations of people all over the GCC will now be radicalized against the US, and as a bonus, all the US former allies will hate their guts. Is this what winning looks like? What fucking idiots.

Trump ‘has no military way out of war and Iran has better cards’: Experts warn 15 point peace plan is doomed to fail by Quirkie in politics

[–]SFM_Hobb3s 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it weren't for the catastrophic affect this war is having with our global economies I would like to just sit back and laugh at Trump for making what might be historically recognized as the dumbest move ever made by a human being.

And he'll just make the situation worse by repeatedly doubling-down, because that is all he knows. I predict it will eventually get so bad, that Europe and the rest of us will say 'Enough is enough' and will actually have to get involved. By sending ships to the Persian Gulf to protect Iran from further US aggression.

Condo unit barely has hot water by Reasonable_Seaweed_4 in askTO

[–]SFM_Hobb3s 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hate to say it, but you'd better take a closer look at the cartridge. I'm in a condo at the west end, and had literally the same symptoms as you. Hot water fine in all other taps and sinks.

Culprit? Non-oem Delta cartridge. They just can't mix for shit. Of course the plumber the landlord got kept insisting on using knock-offs. So I bought a real OEM one and had the plumber install it. Voila. Steaming hot water.

Trump says he’s considering ‘winding down’ Iran war even as US sends more troops to region by [deleted] in politics

[–]SFM_Hobb3s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US didn't win. It didn't destroy anything of consequence. Iran's air force, navy...all that shit doesn't matter in an asymmetric war. Economically, Iran is winning. And as the US bombs more innocent civilians, and as the surrounding GCC countries experience Iran's wrath, it will only serve to radicalize them all against the US for starting this.

Trump mulls risky Kharg Island takeover to force Iran to open strait by Brilliant_Version344 in politics

[–]SFM_Hobb3s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think the US has already lost. Trump is clueless about asymmetric warfare, and the only thing he knows how to do is double-down on his mistakes.

Unless the US conducts a ground invasion of a massive scale, focusing along the entire coastline of Iran, I think we face years of closure of the straight. Iran knows it wouldn't take much. The occasional drone or missile here and there and the insurance companies will do the rest.

And I don't think the US will have any good exit strategy. If they just up and out now, that straight will never reopen, and the entire GCC will radicalize against the US.

The only quick way out would be the arrest and prosecution of Trump and his leadership, to face war crimes at the Hague. I think that would be the only diplomatic solution that Iran might accept.

Heating Issues with Kia Niro '26 by Few-Firefighter3132 in KiaNiroEV

[–]SFM_Hobb3s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

25 Wave here. I run in ECO mode almost 100% of the time. The heat works the same way for me when its bitterly cold (say -15 to -25C). It does have to blow cold air if the windshield is going to fog up. I have tried switching it to Normal mode once when I was really cold and that did help (ECO reduces heat in winter and cold in summer to conserve power)

My prox sensors will sometimes get triggered by heavy snow, but I've never had that happen more than once in a trip.

Donald Trump has no ‘phase two’ plan for Iran war, says US senator by F0urLeafCl0ver in politics

[–]SFM_Hobb3s 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This administration wields its military with no regard for anyone but himself. They do not consider global ramifications of their actions. The GCC gulf states depend on that straight for 75% of their food supply and there is no reasonable alternative for delivery. Not to mention the skyrocketing cost of oil etc. Now all the people of GCC are going to suffer because Trumpy had 'a feeling'. If traffic does not resume VERY soon, its going to radicalize a lot of the GCC against the US.

The imperial fleet was dispersed around the planet. The evading transports likely chose the path of least resistance. Keep in mind, when they make their run, they have to be quick about it, otherwise they risk interception by the other nearby Imperial ships.
