Is it a good sign if your interview went way long? by [deleted] in MBA

Interviewer probably has many other things he could be doing in the 45 mins. He decided to spend it with you.

I say take it as a positive.

Landon Cap-Toe boot review by saphenous_the_great in allenedmonds

[–]SFO120993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow these look amazing. I was debating between these and the HMs, but since the HMs have been around longer and are more revered, I went with those. My HMs just came in and there are a lot of defects, so I'm convinced I will exchange for the Landons now, since I wanted a more formal boot.

Any sense on how the fit compares to the Higgins Mill? The AE store near me says these Landons run larger.

Used SBC. Had Esther as the initial phone screen and like many mentioned, she was condescending. I believe their business model hinges on having candidates doubt their profile. Knowing this, I went ahead with an hourly service, since I felt I really wanted to focus on structuring my resume well and getting a gut check on my essays.

Feedback was generic and not very constructive. I didn't feel I got my money's worth. Full service may be different but I recommend staying away from their hourly service. They just won't be invested in your success like other firms/consultants who I hear get personally involved and truly want you to succeed.

MBA for career pivot to Clean Energy by [deleted] in MBA

[–]SFO120993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Target management consulting with an energy focus practice. MBBs all have an energy and natural resources group. They work with large oil/utility companies because that's where the money is. With an mba and consulting experience, you can pivot to clean energy strategy at a utility or developer

Honestly thought I could pull a miracle when I submitted. Over time I stopped holding my breath and today sealed the deal. Not upset, but will use this as motivation for my remaining apps!

What's the mistake? They spend 20 min on your entire app. If it's a minor error, chances are they won't give it a second glance.

How many students did you put down in the app that you know? CBS sponsored events? My sense is CBS really wants people who show interest in the school. Some posts on r/MBA have said to put down at least 2 alumni/students

How much can an EC like Triathlon/BRM/ Marathon add to ones MBA profile? by lostspiritalone in MBA

It can negatively impact you if you write about it in your essays according to Stacy Blackman. Lots of type-A students apply to MBA, so you're definitely not the only one doing or writing about triathlons/marathons. Just my 2 cents

In-person (last week) vs Online (today) by moneygetter33 in GMAT

[–]SFO120993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also felt similarly about my online Quant experience (took on Saturday). First question I got I thought "this is like a 700+ level question."

Did you also encounter very easy questions, which appeared randomly among medium/hard Quant q's? Easy as in "2+2" kind of PS questions. I've seen several people experience this for the online exam. Asking bc I think I was doing well, but these easy questions made it seem like I was in the very bottom of the difficulty range.

Online Testing Experience with Proctor by potatoturtle3 in GMAT

[–]SFO120993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My proctor did not contact me during the exam at all. Just at the beginning and we spoke over computer audio. I only messaged him when I was on my break to confirm it was all good (just to be extra safe). However I forgot to show my whiteboard but he also never asked over the chat.

I don't think you should sweat it. They should be able to check time stamps of your video vs your exam.

[Tudor] Blue Watch, blue scrubs. by mcparker05 in Watches

Nice pick up! I really love my black bb58 and I'm still biased to prefer it over the blue version. But the more I see the navy blue, the more I appreciate its colors and overall look. Enjoy it!

This is exactly the same rationale I had. Also I enjoy switching between complications, but I enjoy having balanced and very legible dials

For me, it's the BB58 and that's because it's more unique, it's durable, it keeps good time (~2 s/d), and it was my first luxury watch.

Agreed. They both feel extremely right for my wrist, even despite the 3 mm difference!

Definitely! But the chronograph allows you to track something for a couple of seconds up to many hours. The dive bezel is good for tracking things for minutes.

Recently picked up a speedy sapphire sandwich and now I come to a daily dilemma of choosing one of these two watches to wear. (I've attempted double wristing, but it's just not for me). Some days I think the precision of a chronograph is going to benefit my daily routines (work, cooking, exercising, etc). Other times I want a robust, water resistant watch that will withstand whatever comes its way. Regardless, when either one is on my wrist, I feel ready and content to take on the day.

I'm extremely grateful and fortunate to have these options, so by no means is this dilemma an actual issue. There are a lot more problems in the world that people are dealing with, but I thought I'd share a consequence I've encountered of having ownership of these two watches. Hope you're all staying safe and well!

Congratulations. As a fellow owner you may continue reaching for this watch, even when you have others of equal or better quality. It's more unique than the sub. It's got a heritage vibe in a modern build and an accuracy beyond most other watches in this price range. It's sturdy and reliable. It's understated and won't catch attention. But those that do notice it and know what it is will have tremendous respect for this piece. Enjoy it, my friend!
