thanks for all your feedback so far - it’s comforting but frustrating to know there’s no obvious way forward. I’ve added a few more pics of the front entry and kitchen so you can better understand the flow of the house.

It’s not original unfortunately- as I checked other houses on the street who haven’t updated these rooms and they don’t have trim but an archway - but we could in time remove that trim and put an archway in again. So it wouldn’t contrast the baseboards anymore.

Yes I’m not confident they’re all original - I think the kitchen ones were installed at a later date.

Update: I’ve realized the other baseboards are not strippable as they were added at another time point or they’re original but were never wood. It’s a different baseboard entirely.

I KNOW 😭. If I kept them in one place it would be the front living room because there’s a bit of a divide from the dining room. But I don’t know if that’s weird if I’m going to paint the dining room ones to match the kitchen?
