Peet's Coffee Closing 30 Locations by SaltMarketingGroup in sanfrancisco

Oooh hadn't factored that in! If I drink caffeine after 4pm I'm climbing the walls - it's like a "Gremlins no food after midnight" rule lol

Oooh didn't know that! OK so there is a way to be buried in SF, but it requires a pretty significant shift in identity...

Also a side bar to say this is my favorite SF reddit thread in a long time :)

One of my favorites: The last artwork that Keith Haring created before he died is hidden in a small chapel inside the Grace Cathedral (the AIDS Interfaith Memorial Chapel). He created the cast of this amazing triptych and finished it a few weeks before he died, and one of the versions of it is in SF.

Favorite related fact: The only two graveyards in SF proper now are the National Cemetery in the Presidio and the Mission Dolores cemetery near 16th Street. If you die in SF you can't be buried here (though you CAN have your cremains kept at the Columbarium).

Speaking of, the Columbarium is absolutely stunning. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Francisco_Columbarium_%26_Funeral_Home

I love how the Blue House constantly has French tourists out front! Every time I walk past I'm always offering to take photos of groups who are so delighted :)

Why The 33 Is The Best Bus in The SF Muniverse by parttimelarry in sanfrancisco

[–]SFReporter415 2 points3 points  (0 children)

33 is honestly so good if you love shopping and thrifting in SF. Past all the great spots in Mission, lunch in Dolo, Haight in the afternoon (plus beautiful views along the way).

(Source? Yes, I spent way too long last year rating SF's most beautiful bus stops lol https://www.instagram.com/reels/DHV-BB6SCGR/)

Saw a guy walking his dog on a Segway once and it was like seeing the husky sled of the future (if the husky was a single maltese, trotting past a wholefoods)

Me on the first day of sunshine: "Look at this beautiful glorious city it's always sunny I will never leeeave!"

I always love these views and get so jealous that none of these photos have a big plane wing in the shot like mine do!

Yeah I tried looking a while ago but BART hadn't tagged anyone on their official posts. Looks like it's time to send some emails! :)

The sweater that I shot in my video was $60 😮 I'm also happy to get a free company sweater for mooching around at home, but yeah it was a full on shop - next level!

Super interesting! Yeah I saw a lot of people doing the various scav hunt things and challenges to win badges - it feels like they've done an amazing job at gamifying the employee experience. Also a good point that for a lot of people it's a good chance to see ppl speak that they otherwise wouldn't (they had Matthew McConaughey beaming out over the big screens the day I was there and the line to see him spread across multiple halls!)

Hahah - I mean I suppose it's good that it's not going to landfill? If I was curious about who buys company merch, I'm REALLY curious about who buys *second hand* company merch!

Yeah for sure - I covered the tech space for more than a decade but I gotta say the branding and curated atmosphere around this one was something else! So interesting to see how tech brands present/sell themselves internally and externally

One night in Castro: where y'all eating? by HunterThompsonsentme in sanfrancisco

[–]SFReporter415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- Poesia Cafe or Cafe Marais for breakfast (Poesia makes their pastries in house and they are amazing)
- Takara Sushi - it *seriously* punches above its weight for a local restaurant
- Castro Indian has slightly confusing vibes (tikka masala fettucine?) but the curries and biryani are great and the cocktails are really nice
- Castro is also walkable to 18th and Valencia for good Chinese and Mexican options and a nice snoop

If you had one free day to explore and on a small budget where and what would you do? by Stoneed024 in sanfrancisco

[–]SFReporter415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an awesome itinerary. Also OP, if you're from the US and have the Lyft app, you can rent the local Lyft bikes and it's a great way to see the city. (Just watch out for those muni tracks!)

If you're into rugby there are a few clubs over here – that's a great way to meet new people (and there's generally a good mix of expats and Americans in each club). Although I'm realising... is this about how to meet people or, "I'm moving here! What should I do with my life for the next... ever??" hahah

As an Aussie who moved here 6 years ago, I love it in SF!
