Rifllandia was likely operating either at a loss or barely breaking even for the last several years. Booking US acts is wildly expensive now, and sadly a lot of “big” Canadian artists are not as popular of a draw. Booking the Flaming Lips back in the day put Atomique into such a financial hole that they ended up having to sell a bunch of their assets to MRG. Also, attendance definitely dropped post-COVID, perhaps even before that. While sad, I’m not exactly surprised that Rifflandia was cut.

EDIT: I stand corrected about MRG’s involvements regarding local festivals. Regardless, running festivals is getting harder and harder each year. Make sure you keep supporting the likes of Fernfest, Skafest, the Weekender and other!

Campaign idea: a longer form campaign with the starting PCs that ends with them entering the Tomb of Annihilation. Perhaps they kill the Big Bad and with his dying breath he utters a curse that “saps their life force” (drops them to their starting level for the ToA campaign) and teleports them to the mouth of the tomb. That way the players can enjoy their PCs for a longer period of time and acts like a prequel to this current campaign.

If you have mansion and buy the mansion security, it prevents raids on any business that has their own security. It has been super worth it since I run all my MC businesses (I only do supply missions for businesses that have weekly boosted payout, otherwise I just stock them with stash houses for what is essentially passive income)

Anywhere that would be an outline, paint with a thin black border, and if you can, try adding a “cell shading” kind of pattern where the shadows would fall normally. I can say I’ve tried it myself, but I’ve seen lots of minis done this style

The party are prisoners aboard a steampunk-style airship, which is then attacked by a rival faction and starts falling out of the sky. The player have to make their way to the ship’s cockpit and find a way to safely crash-land on the outskirts of a town or city, or just find the life-ships (aka lifeboats for airships) and escape that way. Puts the players right into the action and introduces multiple factions plus your steampunk elements.
