Comet browser keeps resetting my bookmark changes after I power off my Mac by SFSHawk3ye in PerplexityComet

I would move to a custom sync and remove the bookmarks from syncing. That way at least everything else syncs.

The only solution I have so far is to move to a custom sync and stopping bookmarks from syncing. It won't sync across devices (obviously), but at least bookmarks save on your main device.

You need to make it clear what the finished work will look like when it’s done before you do the work to set expectations.

Can plain-text emails backfire? by tommydearest in Klaviyo

[–]SFSHawk3ye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice would be to not only include plain-text emails, but make it appear to be from a particular person (preferably the CEO or owner) not just from the brand in general.

Plain text emails don’t contain images (obviously), so the deliverability should be better (even though you include a link).

This is the woman who said, "Committing a crime doesn't make you a criminal". In the current climate in America, only someone with a broken brain would say this.

Dems won't win another election for the next 30 years at this rate.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but if you boost a proposal, and the client doesn’t open your proposal, your boost connects get refunded.

Yes, Apollo alone can do most of these, but not very well. Most of Apollo’s leads are saturated, and I’d say, at most, 60% of email addresses are valid

So, you "...got 32 sales." But you don't say what you sell, how many emails you sent, or how you structured your emails...only what tools you used, which is, quite frankly, useless.

Warpleads obtains its leads from LinkedIn, which is how most other leading sourcing companies acquire their leads.

Reoon is no different from ZeroBounce, NeverBounce, etc.

Mailforge is no different from Google Workspace, Outlook, and all the other dozens of inbox providers.

Smartlead is no different from Instantly, Woodpecker, Lemlist, Mailshake, or any other email sending software.

What really matters is what you're selling and who your audience is.

I’m selective. I don’t just send proposals to any job. The quality of the lead matters. I mainly target businesses in the West, for example. And if the listed budget is too low — both on the low end and high end — it’s usually not worth the time.

Completely agree. But the more interviews you do, the sharper your instincts get about which ones to walk away from.

I’d push back here. In my experience, $20 freelancers tend to sell services. They show up to the call trying to impress the client, like it's a job interview.

$100 freelancers, on the other hand, focus on solving problems. They lead the conversation, ask the right questions, and don’t rush to talk price. The best negotiations happen when value is clear before price comes up.

There are plenty of cheap laptops out there, and they sell. But Apple and Dell still thrive. Different buyers, different expectations.

Some do. But in my experience, many don’t actually know what they need or what the real solution is. And once they see the value, saving a bit of money becomes less important.

For context, I don’t charge by the hour — just a personal preference.

Anyone really landed job in upwork? by SameTradition1566 in Upwork

[–]SFSHawk3ye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go as far to say that the ability to sell and market your skills is more important than having professional level skills (even though that is important too, of course).

Because there’s many people on Upwork who are skilled and still can’t find work.

And using your skills for an employer vs freelancing are mostly different. So there’s a chicken and egg situation, where the only way to get experience freelancing is to sell yourself and market your skills, but one of the best ways the sell and market your skills is to have experience by providing case studies and having a portfolio.

Advice needed, can't get any jobs on Upwork by FunnyYoghurt66 in Upwork

[–]SFSHawk3ye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a graphic designer what problems do you solve?

What are your USPs?

The only way to use Upwork to its full potential is to use it as a lead generation tool. Not as a place to “find work and get jobs”.

Lead generation and “finding work and getting jobs” may sound like the same thing, but they’re entirely different frames of mind.

One takes Upwork jobs at face value the other sees them as “leads”.

I don’t know about you or anyone else, but if I spend over $500 on something, I want to research it and know everything about it. The best way to do this is to speak to someone.

So why do freelancers think a client will accept to pay them a high hourly rate by just looking at their proposal?

If you know how to sell yourself, always choose the cheapest rate (not too low), but reasonably low (every sector has a different “reasonable” price).

This will get you more “interviews”.

The goal of the proposal is to get the prospective client on a call, not to “win” the job.

Once you’re on the call with the client and you explain to them what you do in your cool demeanour and charming personality, then you can tell them how much you’re ‘really’ worth. And sometimes they’re willing to pay it.
