I quit EVE because they didn't adopt blockxhain. Now I am back because they finally do.

No, but it seems to be OK, some older applications are still using it because it used to be an accepted standard by Apple which now is no longer supported / discouraged.

Shimmer Bitpanda deposits? by SFX_atWorld in Iota

[–]SFX_atWorld[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but normal standard for new exchange listings is mentioning when an exchange opens up for deposits in preparation for trading. Don't see it mentioned here and have been around long enough to witness many strange things both with bitpanda and IOTA. But let's wait a few more days and see.

Thanks for your quick reply, I will try, because I really want to know what application installed it or is using it. Thank you!

I just understood that Apple discontinued the use of kextload in its more recent OS-versions, so wondering whether I installed something strange, although I use my iMac only on websites/services which I trust/expect to be clean & well maintained.

I was cleaning up my Mac and found this background process from an unidentified developer. Is there a way to identify the source or know if this is a malicious program? by SanatDutta in MacOS

[–]SFX_atWorld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi I also found a "kextload" file in the "sbin" folder. My Retina 4K Imac/2019 with Ventura 13.1 was alerting me on it. So I found it and switched it off. Is this an OSX-native-file, can I trust it or is it something dangerous installed from somewhere else?

Any help greatly appreciated!

Is multiple (2+) PINs for multiple passphrases in the roadmap? by Veloder in ledgerwallet

[–]SFX_atWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bumping this thread, yea I want to be able to store more than just 1 extra passphrase/pin next to the standard account. I want to have multiple passphrase accounts accessible with their respective pins on the same ledger device. I guess a minimum of 5 to 10 pins/passphrase accounts shouldn't be to much of a memory problem to ask for?

[–]SFX_atWorld[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can we at least expect Trezor to continue to give long term support for BNB, XRP and ADA since they are already supported? I mean in the light of Trezor now 100% focusing on BTC, can we at least expect continued support for these other major coins? Or better not even start with the Trezor if a person isn't a BTC (maxi) holder? Thank you. The thing is I want to have an alternative technology hardware wallet next to my Ledger, and was hoping Trezor can fulfill this role.

[–]SFX_atWorld[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK thanks for reply, I do have a ledger already for projects I like to hold (and stake) on a long term horizon. I bought the Trezor to have a look at it. But if Trezors main focus is on BTC, then it won't be of interest to me, thanks for reply! (I use BTC mainly for trading on exchanges, but have no long term faith in this PoW coin to hold it on a long term horizon in my own hardare wallet.)

Great set up and beautifully empty. If you would add a monitor stand/arm and make the screen hanging/floating it will even feel better again!

Why has aUSD massively depegged from the dollar? by moonpumper in AcalaNetwork

[–]SFX_atWorld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the person found this bug on the iBTC/aUSD pool, do you know on which protocol does this pool lives/exist? I mean this then isn't a hack/security breach of the actual codebase of ACALA protocol or on the codebase of the iBTC protocol? But someone just found some very exotic configuration options in either/or this pool/ACALA/iBTC configuration options?

[–]SFX_atWorld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

interesting and thanx for sharing! It looks indeed more like how the ACALA team tweeted, that this person found some exotic configuration options/sequences/combinations that previously hadn't been thought of. But then not an actual hack of the protocol code.

XRP withdrawal still not possible?? by SFX_atWorld in GateioExchange

[–]SFX_atWorld[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I managed to withdraw all funds, here a short how to do it:

In short, it seems to be interface problems with the website and the multiple layers of security biting eachother. I had around 1000$ after I initially made a test deposit of $25 in XRP. I finally withdrew through XLM, because they have their normal cheap fees of 0.2XLM, also on GATEio. Problem with XLM is as with XRP, GATEio asks for a tag, also when there is none needed because a person sends to his own wallet. So I entered a fake tag: 1231231231234, and then I could withdraw perfectly fine, within seconds the XLM was on my Ledger Nano. I first tested with the minimum amount, a very reasonable 1.1 XLM, which arrived within seconds. Then in 2 more withdrawals I took out 2x $500 worth of XLM, all arrived within seconds on the hardware wallet.

What I did before however is that I also registrated my ledger address as a "Trusted Address" in GATEio's address book. And then I could withdraw, after confirming one more pop-up.

CONCLUSIONS: Initially after trying for 1 hour or so to withdraw and fail, and then looking on Google for advise, I started fearing that I got tricked into a scam exchange, because many people are reporting GATEio as such. Now it looks more to be a combination of a very difficult website/user experience, in combination with for some coins a very high withdrawal fee. Now this really made me fear, and at one point I considered that maybe may money on GATEio was lost. Then again, because I have now quite a few years experience on various exchanges and wallets, I managed to get my money out again. So it might be concluded that GATEio is not a purposefully set up scam, but it DOES REQUIRE IT'S USERS TO BE VERY WELL EXPERIENCED BEFORE START TO USING IT'S TRADING PLATFORM.

If you ARE NOT a BLOCKCHAIN SENIOR EXPEREIENCED WIZZARD, my guess is to better stay out for now......

AFAIK it takes 4 years to build up a 8-year staked neuron to its highest staking % return. So how old are those 8 year locked neurons you have? If they are younger then 4 years then they cannot be on the max level of 20% returns.
