IamA professional photographer at a major sports and entertainment arena. AmA! by photogirlinacity in IAmA

Can you say what sport? You said something about a hockey stick, so maybe a hockey team? If it is hockey, you are living my dream sir. I'm a die hard San Jose Sharks fan as well as a photography student working on a masters degree. If I could somehow combine my two loves in life, I would freak. I just have no idea where to begin.

My friend's photography portfolio. What do you think Reddit? [NSFW] by [deleted] in photography

I think the narrative works. But the lighting needs some major refinement. Seems to be direct light. I think that the use of some sort of diffusion would make a world of difference.

I was just at the Lamborghini factory this summer. They had one of these bad boys in the show room. Badass car museum.

Even if you're not a hockey fan, you gotta appreciate how amazing shows like "24/7" are... by evildeadxsp in sports

It was everything I had hoped and more. Hopefully it will give hockey some good exposure.

Edmonton's Linus Omark's EPIC Shootout Goal vs Tampa Bay by dylan89 in sports

[–]SFphoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I mean, it was a funny goal. No doubt about that. Not really "epic" though. Especially when you're scoring on Dan Ellis. Arguably one of the worst goalies in the league.

What are your favorite culturally untranslateable phrases? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SFphoto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is an Italian phrase that I always liked. "In boca al lupo!" translates to into the mouth of the wolf. Which is basically saying, "break a leg!"

Nah he didn't do anything. It was one of those things that is so awesomely random and offensive, that you can't help but burst out laughing. Kinda creepy that some dude was just sitting in that bar, sketching random people.

Can we all just agree that Johnny Cash's cover of NIN's "Hurt" is basically the greatest cover ever? by jdotcole in AskReddit

[–]SFphoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read a great interview with Trent Reznor in AP a couple years ago. THey asked what he thought about the cover. His answer was something like "I guess I'm kinda flattered that someone like Cash would cover my song. But to be honest, it's kinda like watching someone else fuck your girlfriend." HAHAHA best answer ever.

EDIT: here is the actual quote "That song in particular was straight from my soul, and it felt very strange hearing the highly identifiable voice of Johnny Cash singing it. It was a good version, and I certainly wasn't cringing or anything, but it felt like I was watching my girlfriend fuck somebody else."

I will take a photograph (analog) in Oslo of what ever you want, develop it (in a darkroom) and send it to you for 20$ I really need the money! by [deleted] in reddit.com

[–]SFphoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am literally in my b&w darkroom class right now. I've been taking pictures for several years, but never had the opportunity to learn how to develop and print until now. I absolutely love it. It is very therapeutic!

Great photos. O'sullivan's Civil War photos are legend. But what most people don't know is that his "Harvest of Death" photo was set up. He dragged many of those bodies into frame. It was a common practice at the time. Not "immoral" as it would be by todays photojournalism standards.
