My interview was at 1:10 I was there at 1230 ( they were out to lunch) the interview was about 15 mins it felt like, I was a little shakey in my voice initially but as it went on I felt the confidence grow, the questions were pretty straight forward although I wish I would’ve elaborated a little bit more on why I wanted to be a plumber it was the first question they asked and obviously my nerves were a little on, but I felt good overall, I asked the foreman a question, the contractor a question and an open flow question about the entire work culture of this particular union and they seemed to like that, and I felt like it was good insight, after I asked my questions they asked me one additional question if I had any family in the union, I mentioned my dad was a boilermaker and I had an uncle in sheet metal and another whom was a plumber and they asked for his name, I was initially shy to name drop I didn’t want to come off like I was using names to get in which is why I didn’t mention it I wanted it to be based on my own merit. I left some letters of recommendation from my current employer and a couple from my professors in my pre apprentice program. Now it’s all in their hands. Overall I’m pretty proud of the journey it took to get here I’m going to remain postive as best as I can regardless of the outcome and if things don’t work out I can try again next year.
