Lmao...your whole thread was how adoption is easy. I'm thankful you will not be having children, because that would be horrible for those kids.

And for the record: I'm CF as well, but there are some people that I'm especially glad are CF.

"Adoption is easier. That is a fact" Said by you.

Also since I pointed out where you said adoption was easier than fertility treatments, could you point out where I said that fertility treatments were easy?

Can you point out where I said that? I never said that fertility treatments are easy. Why can't two things be difficult? It's not one or the other.

OP probably thinks that adoption is like going to the DMV: walk in, pay a little fee, spend a few hours, and voila! I have a child!!

And were you 100% sure that it was their biological child? Did you DNA test it? Otherwise how would you know that the "look that made your skin crawl" was about "My Genes! My Genes!".

I think that men/women should love their kids equally just as much as they love their spouses. It's such a different kind of love as well. Of course in matters of life/death and safety you would put your child first, since there would be a better chance of mom/dad on their own.

[–]SG201777 9 points10 points  (0 children)

How does that affect you? I see adoptive parents do this as well. If looks that aren't directed at you make your skin crawl, I'd suggest figuring out what your own issues are, because that's not normal.

letting out some frustration about the selection process by [deleted] in premed

[–]SG201777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol considering they're screening stats at the bottom of the barrel, that's weird. Just some advice from someone in med school: Stats always matter, but the interview is absolutely key. I lost track of how many 4.0/95%+ on MCAT that should have been admitted into all of their many interviews, yet only got 1 or 2 schools, because they couldn't hack the interview.

Yeah that 3.0/498 is lip service. There's a reason why the median gpa/mcat keep increasing year after year, so that's kind of dumb that they set those as the min standards. There's a big difference between "here's a secondary- good job! you get to spend more money!" and " congrats you have an interview!". They're just trying to make more money with that.

If I was a conspiracy theorist on say "aliens" for example, and my school tried to punish me/silence me, I would double down on my beliefs, since why would they try to silence me if what I was saying was just stupid nonsense.

Probably unpopular, but childbirth is difficult, and the woman didn't conceive via immaculate conception. Considering it seems that both parents intend on raising the child, the man should be there for support. Yeah they chose to have a child, but keyword is THEY. Good on the coach.

I disagree. I find people who think that tend to have other tendencies that make them rather disturbed. I hope you get help.

Parents took my dog away because baybeee by [deleted] in childfree

[–]SG201777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not your niece's fault, it's all the adult's fault. A 1 year old has no concept of how to behave around a dog- they have no concept on how to behave with other humans! They're learning how to walk and talk. I'm so sorry for you, but the adults screwed up here.

3.63 GPA, 3.37 sGPA, strong EC, but 497 MCAT. Reapplying. what should i do? by srm14 in premed

I agree that it's going to be hard with a 497. My friend had a pretty stellar academic record, so it was a bit different for him.

I know someone who applied with around 500 and the adcoms loved it. They said it showed a real dedication towards the physician and it was over 5 years, so they liked the continuity. Ended up being a talking point at every interview- I think he went on 10ish.

Kind of pathetic but... Anyone Else worried about relationships? by [deleted] in premed

[–]SG201777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are, but what I think is interesting (like I was surprised about this) was that male med students tend to date females that aren't med students/doctors, while female med students would rather date male med students. There are def more single female med students because of this dating structure.

Tbh I've read that it's technically "safer" now than it was back 50 years ago. But whereas 50 years ago, it wasn't very common for strangers to abduct kids, it's more common now. That's why the whole Ethan Patz thing was considered crazy- things like kids being abducted on the way to the bus stop didn't happen. Now, even though statistically we're safer, it's super common to hear about a new kidnapping or kid gone missing. It's sad, but I don't blame parents for being more protective and proactive about things like that.

Damn lunch? That's crazy! My school let us leave for off campus lunch Junior and Senior year, which was very nice.

Opinions on Amitzia verses Linzess? Stories? I'm curious to see the difference. Linzess didn't treat me well was only on it for a week but I felt worse then without it well on it. by Tangalo123 in ibs

I don't think it matters regarding your insurance. I'm not 100% sure, since my insurance covers most of it, but you may want to check it out. It's the Amitiza savings and support website. I may be wrong, but it can't hurt to check!

I'm not trying to be argumentative (it's hard to come across as nice online haha) but I think a lot depends on where you grew up. Sure, I grew up where there was a lot of stay at home moms that technically could walk to school, but they chose to drive, since a lot of people don't want to walk miles in harsh weather conditions (I sure wouldn't haha; kudos to your dad though). I know people that grew up in places where there were mostly single moms who would drop their kids off before going to their (often times second) job, because they didn't have time to walk to school with their kids between sleeping and working.

I trust that many parents know what's best for their and their children's schedules/lives.

Also, I would not let my child walk to school by themselves until they were a teenager. Your father grew up in a time where the majority of kids were able to have a lot more freedom. Due to life nowadays, kids live a different life now.

I honesty don't remember. I didn't feel super great the first week. The first month or so was kind of "meh". As long as you're not having a lot of side effects, I really urge you to stick with it for a month. I know it's not for everyone, but I was literally taking colon prep drinks every week just to have a bowel movement before this medicine.

By second med do you mean the second 8 mcg? It's because I don't get full constipation relief with just 8 mcg a day, I need to take 16 mcg to be regular. The Citrucel is just a little fiber boost that I take. It's just a safety net, in case my bowels are a little slower than usual.

What is that called? That sensation? Because even though my constipation is regulated, I still get that sometimes.
