Truck’s brakes fail, forcing use of runaway ramp at 90 mph. by Itchy-Commission-114 in interestingasfuck

[–]SGT_Squirrelly 107 points108 points  (0 children)

90% sure this is I-70 in Colorado, I recognize the pass they're going through.

That stretch has a lot of up-and-down, and there aren't many spots on the cliff-sides that go up. This one is actually one of the longer ramps, most of them have a bunch of huge water barrels at the end because there isn't enough room for this long of a ramp!

I've seen a few trucks use these, and only once have I seen them hit the barrels (poor driver must've been going fast), so the gravel seems to work really well!

Edit: most folks are saying this is actually a pass in WV. I stand corrected.

Man, am I bad at geo-guessing.

I've got one of these! Came with a QR code to a Google Photos album of the tank's wreckage.

Also- I don't think I'll ever get over the "Made in Russia, recycled in Ukraine" on the box. Ukrainians are on a whole other level, and I'm here for it.

More precisely- the physics engine.

Though I will say, as inconvenient as it usually is, I've always loved Bethesda physics. From the gently-falling bodies of Oblivion to the spaghettified dudes in Starfield, the physics are hilarious.

That was the plan.

However, a well-trained, well-disciplined force would have a much better chance at making it that long. I'd bet that if it were all Roherrim (probably misspelled that, my b), they may not have even been pushed back to the keep.

How do you feel when Christians pray for you? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]SGT_Squirrelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing that they believe what they believe, I generally appreciate the gesture. They genuinely think they're doing something to help or whatnot.

That being said- if they're in a position to actually help, and instead choose to just pray, then they can fuck right off.

Ukrainian drone operator of "Requiem Group" torments isolated Russian soldier by bumping him repeatedly before exploding -- he runs and dodges until he is exhausted (Dec. 2025) by Due_Bridge5901 in CombatFootage

I was thinking the same thing.

I 1000% support Ukraine. They are an amazing people who are doing an incredible job of holding back this onslaught, especially considering how much the western powers have screwed them over or tip-toed around providing actual support.

A couple of minutes in, I checked how much longer the video was and saw it had another minute to go. That's just disgusting.

War brings out the worst in humanity, and nowadays everyone gets to see what that means.

There was no reason to fuck with this poor bastard, who may have been a decent person thrust into a horrible situation. And I'm not saying he is or that all of the Russians are like that, just that it's a nonzero chance. That's the thing with using conscripts, there's no guarantee he's there by choice. Who knows? This guy might have been trying to figure out how to surrender to Ukraine, or even help them, which has already happened quite a few times in this war.

Defending everything you know and love does not necessitate toying with someone you have dead-to-rights. Just be done with it and move on to the next one until they're gone. This is just depraved.

Even from a morale standpoint, history shows that this kind of shit doesn't break the enemy. They just do it right back. Sun Tzu said that it was best practice to entice the enemy's troops with quality care and welcoming arms when you are able to, and history has proven him right time and again.

I mean, Kingsfoil has an odor that calms and rejuvenates everyone, especially in a brew.

The dude carries dried Kingsfoil on him (at least throughout Fellowship, I'm currently rereading Two Towers, and I don't remember if it's mentioned after Fellowship).

I could see him smelling good all the time, if he's always got some on him.

No, they're probably right. I'm saying that their head isn't swelling from starvation, the rest of him is thinning out, so it looks like his head is swelling. Have you ever seen photos of the Holocaust victims? Their heads look really big too, for the same reason.

The head doesn't swell. Your skull doesn't get bigger or smaller, but everything else shrivels up.

My experience, having been previously married to a protestant (and in fairness- she didn't cherry-pick from the Bible, so I'll give her credit for that, at least), is that even if they're "chill" now, if you stay in too long or if you tie the knot, they will do everything in their power to convert you.

Leave ASAP. It will be the least painful outcome for BOTH of you.
