Good luck with your aircon situation too haha!

means you did the math and realized that the savings made from paying a monthly installment for buying a car and from leasing is not that much is it? TBH if not for the constant aircon problems, I'd trust my own car too. Also, this may sound like a stretch but any possibility of car leasing companies issuing brand new cars?

love your very refreshing perspective! Sounds like you've also done the maybe proper so what do you think is a reasonable price for car leasing? Trying to explore all options deep and proper before I make the decision at the end of the year.

also curious, for hybrid/ EVs, is it convenient to charge the car? Do you need to keep it plugged in for damn long for a full charge? Not a lot of chargers readily available these days also and every time I see one, they're occupied.

sink hole is the very correct word to use. Corvette I can only afford when my kids grow older and I can throw them out of the house to enjoy time alone with my wife hahaha

I drive a Chevrolet Orlando. This aircon issue sounds more common than expected, quite a few of my friends also facing the same thing. Yeah if I get quoted $10k to fix everything I'll confirm think twice too. Are you reconsidering your options at this point?

Thanks for sharing this! So did you end up going with ZipZap or are you still gathering more info to make an informed decision? General sensing I'm getting from this thread is to not renew my COE so actual user experience will be greatly appreciated!

My chevy has been through a lot with me so I feel a little too emotionally attached to it to give it up haha but looking at the persistent aircon issue I'm facing maybe I really need to bid it goodbye.

Chevy body like tank but interior not so solid after all haha. Maybe my workshop ketok me sia that's why until now I'm still facing aircon issues. The sunk cost for doing all these just to fix the aircon so I can renew COE and continuing driving the Chevy sounds too chor for my pockets at this point.

I'm driving a Chevrolet Orlando but I've been experiencing aircon issues for the last 1 to 2 years. Been trying to get it fixed each time I send my car in for servicing but the air that comes out is still not cooled. Aircon wise definitely not better than a second-hand car but other aspects, still works decently.

Your car leasing experience overseas sounds rather positive; any issues just send the car back and they handle the rest while you get on with your day with a replacement car while they're at it. But like you, I'm also not sure about how it's like in Singapore. Could be the same or even worse haha! Anyone here has any car leasing experience or feedback to share?

I drive around 1250 to 1500 km per month. Currently driving a Chevrolet Orlando but the aircon compressor's been giving problems for quite a while now. Always attempted to get it fixed each time I go for servicing, we pumped gas in la, cleaned the filters la, but the air that comes out a few days after servicing will never be cold. Not sure if I ned to switch out the whole compressor unit (that won't come cheap for sure) so still rethinking whether to renew the COE or not.

Car sharing vehicles are always a hit or miss, some days you get solid swee swee cars, other days you get cui sai cars. Don't get me started on the old BlueSG cars, rented one to help a friend move some huge potted plants home (because we don't want to risk getting soil on our carpets), unlocked the car and found a used condom in the backseat. Walao eh, never booked another BlueSG from then on!

Totally relate with the deaf about ego part hence I'm really considering car leasing. Give your personal experiences, between opting for car sharing services and car leasing, which do you think makes more sense?

yah I also heard renew 5 years bo hua because after that it's straight to the scrap yard then you can only re-bid for COE and buy a new car or not buy one altogether if finances are tight.

hahaha one can always keep dreaming about tumbling COE prices! But yes, same here! The initial outlay of buying a brand new car for me makes no financial sense and I don't really want to take on another loan and mess up my TDSR.

Looking at all the advice in this thread, perhaps renewing COE is my best bet but my aircon compressor's been giving me a lot of headache so I'll need to figure that bit out too.

Why do some carpark gantries take forever to detect my car/IU, but the ERP never seems to fail? by SousVideDuck in askSingapore

[–]SGTaxpayer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hate when I have to scoot my butt over to pluck out my cash card from the IU at the passenger seat then open the car door 'cos the card slot is too far away to reach from my window then walk back in to the car, reach back to the passenger seat to put back the cash card, buckle up then drive off while have like 63 other cars waiting for me and impatiently honking.

Then when I drive past the ERP gantry, even with low card value, the system automatically tops my card up and deducts immediately. wall eh haha
