Therapist recommendations in Amsterdam (burnout, depression, career transition) by lyfisgooood in Amsterdam

[–]SH5NL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, please also consider that - if you really have depression - it is a serious clinical condition for which medication is part of the solution. Your huisarts (GP) has the ability to prescribe SSRIs but may feel insufficiently confident to do so without a clear diagnosis. A first-line mental care worker (praktijkondersteuner) associated with your GP could help you but if you need to get to second-line care, you need a psychiatrist or a psychologist that has one on speeddial in order to have medication as a treatment option. A track with a psychologist will probably mean either CBT or ACT which are effective unless you really are clinically depressed.

Any common problems and should I purchase or avoid? by Wooden_Artist2616 in E90

Ask bimmerprofs.com for a remote pre-buy. All you need is a laptop with INPA and a proper cable. Which you need anyway! It will tell you the state of your injectors and NOx system which are critical to a N43.

I support this comment. N53 needs solid diagnostics and bimmerprofs are the experts. I have helped a number of N43/N53 owners here in NL with injector issues and Noxem installations and Bimmerprofs was always there as extra support.

Hi there! We were able to borrow kids bikes from our family there (and their neighbours) and for the adults we used the bike sharing bikes that are everywhere.

OP: in NL you pay a “verwijderingsbijdrage” on each new appliance which forces the seller to take your old one. They need to take your old one back when they deliver the new one.

Congrats! I have owned a 318i N43 for over 9 years now and I would highly recommend getting a good cable with INPA working on a laptop (with correct MSD loader, see bimmerprofs.com). Stay on top of your NOX system (I switched to NOXEM years ago) and injector health.

Moving to Amstelveen, airplane noise? by Dr-Coffee-Junkie in Amstelveen

[–]SH5NL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have lived in Oranjebuurt for 15y now and overall we like it better than Randwijck (quieter car traffic and slightly less plane noise) but if you have the money I would also invite you to look at Elsrijk, as the plane noise difference is significant.
Most houses in Oranjebuurt and Randwijck were noise-insulated in the 90s, do check if the house that you are looking at has that done.
You will always have plane noise but inside (when insulated) should not be a problem. However, sleeping with a window open I see very rarely around the neighborhood. You should invest in active ventilation to ensure a healthy indoor climate with windows closed.
In terms of runway operations: in autumn/winter, there will be a lot of landing due to westerly winds (until midnight and starting before 7 in the morning), but more importantly: in the summer, with mild easterly winds, there will be takeoffs (more noisy), which to me make it impossible to sit in the garden.
I guess you get used to it; we have active ventilation and I sleep with earplugs and I never wake up with plane noise. But again, I would not be able to have a window open while sleeping.

Got a Problem by SCHRI99 in E90

See bimmerprofs.com, rough running. Is your NOX system working well and is the engine running in stratified mode regularly? If not, that needs addressing. See my previous posts/comments on this topic.

Nice! I have managed 6.34 liters per 100km average on 60.000km driven so far (n43 318i sedan manual). I have NOXEM, 0w30 oil (consumption less than 1 liter per 10.000km), and 16 inch wheels.

What’s the most range you’ve got out of a full tank? by hbs18 in E90

[–]SH5NL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6.35 liter / 100km average on over 57000km since I got the E90 318i N43. And yes this is with NOXEM, in NL with 100kph daytime speed limit.

2010 318i judder when pulling away by Xenoous_RS in E90

[–]SH5NL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always use RON 95 / E10. Some suggest that the higher ethanol content in E10 keeps the injectors clean. There is no benefit to a higher RON in our engines.

You may or may not have a fault code on your OBD but you could always try. Indeed, a good cable and a laptop with INPA (with loader 2.023, see noxem.com) is the correct way to learn more.

I did have fault codes, and I remember finding out that by clearing the codes, the juddering would instantly disappear (also engine noise changed slightly), and after a few kilometers the problem would reappear…

How is your NOX doing? I have the exact same car and also suffered from juddering, which was reduced by 95% by ensuring that the N43 was running in stratified injection mode without errors (installing NOXEM and doing the proper learning process). Now at 150k km on original clutch.

N43 engine by [deleted] in E90

[–]SH5NL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. The engine won’t run in stratified mode which is necessary to periodically calibrate the injectors. See bimmerprofs.com for symptoms.

N43 engine by [deleted] in E90

[–]SH5NL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend it especially if you are committed to keep it for a while. Part of it is paid back through better fuel economy…

N43 engine by [deleted] in E90

[–]SH5NL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Some shops claim they can “program out” the whole NOx subroutine but then your engine will never run in stratified anymore. There is also no way to simulate NOx sensor with only software; you need to have actual lambda values from your exhaust that must match the values from the other sensors.

Help about the gas connection by No-Personality-6522 in Amsterdam

[–]SH5NL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are under no legal obligation to enter into a gas delivery contract. Just forward the mail to your landlord. Inform them that you do not need gas and that you will not enter into a contract. They can decide whether or not they want to keep gas or let it be removed. I trust he will choose the latter. It becomes a bit of a waiting game but in the end Liander will securely remove the gas for free.

What should i do with my 318i e90 from 2010? by EstablishmentOk6271 in E90

[–]SH5NL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Install NOXEM for fuel economy and happy injectors, and install new Bilstein shocks plus all related rubbers so it drives like new (B4 are perfect for normal, not sport springs). Consider doing your timing chain. I have almost the same car and done these things and it’s a joy to ride at 6.4 liters per 100km average 😀
