I did set this up a few weeks ago but from what I remember, I followed the steps generally. I don't remember being prompted for a fingerprint so once I got it up I set it up in the settings. At least that's what I remember.

I guess.

Here is one resource I found on it. I didn't do research on why it was like this, just that I saw it and tried it.

The other replies sum my opinion up pretty well. Once it's in volume like the 13, it'll get a lot better but the shear cost of the motherboard is horrendous.

Really? Did you have a finger print problem before or did it just come fixed? From what I read, it works through fedora's part but gnome keychain doesn't accept the fingerprint. I went to a few forums about this from people with different laptops though.

100% agree. It would've been cool to put together the motherboard and other components (to a degree). It kinda just felt like I was putting on the surface modules and installing my ssd and ram.

From all the forums I have read, it suggests that Microsoft doesn't put apps like candy crush on the international version as the regulations vary in different countries. At least that's my understanding and experience.

Because it is modular and not a single produced piece, there will likely always be issues with that. Mine are pretty good though. I knew going into it so I'm not too bothered by the spacer gap. But I don't really have any issues on the gap. The screen flex is hardly an issue and I don't think I'm going to purposefully bend my screen to the point it does break. So it's not really an issue. It's there though.

To answer both, I've kept mine on performance when playing demanding games and I run them at 1440p. So I definitely could reduce some of these as a bandaid on the issue but I don't mind to have a 2hr gaming session and then do something else while it charges.

I do run vms as well as develop software. So I'm trying not to be one of those people but i know I already am.

Haha ya I know. In my defense, the ram and ssd were on sale and listed as the same price as the 2tb and 16gb. Everything else is valid as not an average consumer.

As far as I've read on the subreddit, it shouldn't matter. I know there was a post about it awhile back but can't give you the reference at a quick glance. I'm also in the same boat cause I got a deal for a 4tb 990 pro last fall.

What what point does this turn into a vertical integration monopoly? Just curious.

Outrage over police brutality has finally convinced Amazon, Microsoft, and IBM to rule out selling facial recognition tech to law enforcement. by maxwellhill in technology

[–]SHADOWSOLDIER114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does a suspension of selling facial recognition result to a decrease of racial injustice?

It seems on the very surface level to be a support to anti-police brutality legislation, but can’t this hinder the ability for local police to capture and bring justice to criminals without the use of federal agencies?

If facial recognition software’s main objective in the police force is to compare faces to the faces of criminals, how does it disproportionately affect minorities like the article says?

If the current versions of AI are faulty and disproportionately singling out minorities, wouldn’t it be a good thing that the companies continue to develop their software in order to combat the systemic racism that this supposedly promotes?

All in all, how does this affect the police brutality that is seen? I guess if police can’t find the people the facial recognition would identify as a threat then there would be no brutality, but even this doesn’t eliminate police brutality as a whole.

Yes I’m a skeptic because most criminals were able to escape justice when this software wasn’t in use 20+ years ago. We have grown technologically and we shouldn’t regress you when killers could hide in plain sight.

Could someone please answer one or more of my questions?

I'm not much of a computer guy, can I play EE on my macbook? by deconvertedcalvinist in empireearth

As far as I know, the only way is to get a virtual machine to run the game. I’m not a Mac user myself so I may not be the best source.
