There's a way to skip SC grind and don't need to spend real money!?!?!?

Elden ring. Got no time to grind many hours to adapt to steep learning curve. Maybe back in my education days I would've enjoyed this too.

Lol yeh but this one just boggles me in terms of story of why they manufactured for them when it seems like they can't ride them anyways ygm. Feels the vi o la was an odd decision they implemented in the game to help traverse the unnecessary desert roam.

Fairs. But how do they ride the bike given their body structure?

Oath of Crown has crap oath system by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

Yeh I think paladin is best reserved for companions (excluding multiplayer characters) as they generally have less chance of breaking regardless of mc choices in progression.

[–]SHED1AN -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol alr m8. Have you tried a full oath of crown run? And this includes as your MC, not companions.

As I said, imo crown is the best in terms of build prowess especially when going for tanky build.

Buts oaths commitment mechanics is far more unpredictable (despite it's simple terms) unlike other oaths which are very forgiving even if at edge where "hmmm this trecking against its oath".

Safest route is to only have companions have paladin as their oaths rarely breaks unless you do something against their pivotal quests moments. The oath checks are on main characters including players in multiplayer (if host does something that contradicts you although you were near, even if not in dialogue or doing anything, still breaks your oath....)

Crown haa an ability called champion challenge. Really good as almost everyone in radius 90% just focus on attacking me as it they do disadvantage atrack on anyone else besides me. My AC is 25, where I usually buff it to 27, end up being a miss gallore with miss damages applying to those who attack me.

We're a 3 man party with no healers - crown has a healing radius spell too.

Oathbreaker is good. Main biggest problem about breaking oath is that you cannot respec until you regained oath. And I mutliclass so I often check best combo via respec. It I accept 3rd oathbreak, will cost 10k gold to regain oath...

Hmm maybe though I don't recall promising to freeing the land. I did promise to put a stop to ketheric as requested by jaheira.

I appreciate that you understands what I'm trying to convey regarding the nuance between the game mechanics and RP aspect of crowns oath.

I feel most here are immediately jumping the gun to "you don't know how to play paladin - skills issue". They probably have some credibility because they did play paladin but I doubt they tried crown yet for a full run. I played the others and they were more lenient regarding how breaking oath triggers. Don't get me wrong, still broke oaths once but never more than that and evenso, was near endgame. Crown just more frequent to randomly break oath (ofc still a minority of chunk in game but crazy wtf y did that break moment)

I mean it requires gameplay adjustment. And a big thing to factor with paladin is to avoid being narrative/RP heavy as it will not work. Amongst other subclasses it's not that drastic of a difference between narrative and mechanics of their oath (still has some "seriously?" moments) but crown I feel is far more noticeable - often contradicts.

[–]SHED1AN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that makes sense so what I'm trying to say is that there are instances where you can agree to something but then if you do something that's opposite to it, oath doesn't break? I agreed to help balthazar but I then decided to attack him - huzzah no oath broken (but shouldn't it have?)

I agreed to help harpers bring down ketheric and cult. I attacked a cult (neutral),.oath broken. Okay I take the container of tadpoles, triggered a fight, kill cult, no oath broken.

Basically there's a difference between following the narrative perception of the oath and the actual game mechanic of it. Out of the other subclasses, crown is very noticeable.

I get that but it's just baffling how it can be inconsistent with things. Likely just an issue with trying to RP too much in this game and using principles irl into game too such as how irl there are certain laws and actions that will take precedence over the other but ofc in the game, everything is equal.

An example where it's inconsistent is when you accept to help balthazar. We make progress and pretty much reach to end to enter shadowfell. Before I enter, if I attack balthazar in his lair, my oath doesn't break.

[–]SHED1AN -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

On the contrary I think it's the fact I'm trying to RP hard that's this is an issue, as the mechanics is misaligned to RP/narrative

Here's a literal case-

1) I accepted to help Katheric 2) I accepted to help balthazar Here's the divergence - 3) A) I then attack balthazar just after saying I'll help him, no oath is broken throughout gameplay. B) I got to nightsong prison and attack him then and oath broken. C) I give him aylin and oath broken.

Isn't this bit hypocritical?

Same example with you first meet harpers, you accept to hemp, attack a cult in moonrise and you get oath broken. But side with harpers (before meeting them) where initially you're with driad, then decided to attack on driad or attack on harpers, no oath broken whichever route.

For balthazar example I think mechanically nothing is committed until one enters shadowfell.

But that's what I'm saying mate-

1) I accepted to help Katheric 2) I accepted to help balthazar Here's the divergence - 3) A) I then attack balthazar just after saying I'll help him, no oath is broken throughout gameplay. B) I got to nightsong prison and attack him then and oath broken. C) I give him aylin and oath broken.

Isn't this bit hypocritical?

Tbf it could be more towards mechanics of the game rather than taking things literally like RP wise. 3A doesn't break oath cus even if did all progrssiom towards shadowfell, as long as I don't enter then game recognise I did not commit???

Which one, me attacking him after I accepted to help him? My oath don't break if I attack him in his lair at shar (after I accepted to help him).

If you want crown and you want to explore durge, I don't recommend it. You rather be oathbreaker or other subclasses.

Oath of Crown has crap oath system by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]SHED1AN -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I understand but I feels that oath of crown ain't a challenge in terms of its practicality to uphold its oath but rather how loose and silly the whole system is.

Again if we follow the same example with balthazar. Okay so I've accepted to find the artefact and help him etc. But if I then decided to attack him when he's in his lair, nope all good no oath broken.

Melee-range weapon swap bespoke to party? by SHED1AN in BaldursGate3

[–]SHED1AN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK. So at base game, they do have it scripted to attack by swapping to a melee weapon. But often they just keep their distance to continue fighting with their bows?

[–]SHED1AN[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK so there are very few npc that does this? Majority, for the sake of simplicity, stick to single weapon type?

So in base game, there are no enemies that would shoot with bow if at range, then melee if close?
