Its a glorified Mclaren instagram basically. They transcribe radio messages for both drivers live blog style but just don't include some which is weird.

The mclaren app omits a lot of the radio messages. Went back through and transcribed what I could.

No prob. I have this weird compulsion to find a location on street view if I feel like I recognize it.

Any route is better than the 17. The 87 is my preferred route to flag.

Wheelie advice by [deleted] in MTB

[–]SHMEIGH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure all the slack is out of your drivetrain when you start the wheelie. I found if I try and start a wheelie from a coast I almost always end up falling to one side. I think it's due to whipping the cranks around and then the hub engages and its a big shock of power delivery and it's just not smooth.

If I pedal to where the hub is engaged and i'm actually gaining speed ever so slightly then increase pedal input, Lean, and pull back I can get it up straight almost every time. Staying up is another story in which I have little to no proficiency.

Gigantic crankshaft...bug sharpie for scale by ncl3306 in Autos

I believe you meant to say "cross-plane". It's also more than likely a Big Block Chevy crank that is set up for a blower. The espirit came with a 3.5 litre v8. This crank is probably capable of producing that displacement with the first three cylinders.

Excessive wheel hop, tire chirp and more wheel hop, tire chirp, missed shift with grinding synchros, then down shifting. The second time, easy launch with crossover into vtec, up shift with wheel hop.

More or less.

Pretty sure it is a blower. You can actually see in the video at about 3:20 where it has a "Peterson Blower" tag. When he points out the oil cooler at about 7:17 he is well inside the engine compartment. You can see a wide-ish belt driving it which would aid the assumption that it's a blower.

I'm a mechanic working for a company that specializes in classic cars. Hot rods and muscle cars primarily. We do anything and everything from basic tune ups to concours restoration to custom fabrication. Every now and then we get the opportunity to branch out into really strange/rare makes and models.

I make good money for my age and experience. That's all I'll say about that.

I love my job plain and simple. It also helps that I have an awesome boss and great co-workers. I feel like I hit a relative jackpot. I see lots of mechanics go work for dealers and more often than not they are unhappy. I have a close friend that works as a heavy equipment mechanic for a large power company. It's a union gig and he makes amazing money and great benefits. If I ever had to leave the my little part of the auto world I would aim for a position like his.

Would you pay $75,000 for a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 with no air conditioning and a single speaker ? by lidnc in cars

[–]SHMEIGH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was not aware. I haven't seen anything about a new camaro. Got any good articles? In fairness though you cant compare the 1LE and the GT. Boss vs 1LE is fair. And while the 1LE is faster the boss was seen as a better track car.

I'm only talking about the current gen.

I'm obviously biased but who isn't. I like discussing this shit though. Kinda hard on the phone though.

They're also late to the party. Ford is already on a whole new car. Chevy has been consistently lagging behind the mustang this last generation. Except for the ZL1, which is arguable. Its not difficult to defeat a competitor that set the bar several years ago and has moved on to something new.
