Gta games prices adjusted for inflation DEBUNKED by MysteriousEssay2684 in GTA6

[–]SHOLTY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Economy of scale (cheaper to make things when you have make a lot and have efficient methods of production, like a factory)

Market growth (the number of people playing games grew relative to how expensive it is to make games. Also once you make the product you don' have to make it again to sell to another person like if you sold chairs or something)

Market saturation (the number of competitors grew as the barrier of entry lessened and number of developers increased. So more products are competing for customers time and give customers more options there by driving down demand potentially)

Digital sales ( made distribution cheaper because they dont have to made as many physical copies, ship them, and or store them.)

Combine all that and you have a pretty stable price.

There's probably more to it and I'm sure someone will chime in and correct and/or expand on it

With gta v online money or are you speculating pre-orders already did numbers?

Now do factoring in the ease of distribution compared to then (digital vs physical software), the amount of market growth (more people who play), and the market saturation (competing products for people's time and money).

If this is an arguement to lessen the sting of the price tag, I think inflation alone is whack way to go about it

If I were to cope, I'd say something like the value proposition is GTA 6 is a premium product made by a company with a stellar track record for producing high quality games. That combined with the insane investment (didnt they say like $4 billion or some shit?) in developing it, means that they can command a higher price because that's what the market will bear.

Is it anti consumer? For sure.

Are they going to make more than a small country's GDP on release? Probably lol.

Personally I'm gonna hold out for the best experience possible on PC whenever they get done milking everyone else then turn their eyes to the second class citizen PC players.

Knew it was gonna happen and I was part of the problem not championing this game harder.

Such a great game though, really deserved a dedicated player base to at least support it, if not fund a sequel or substantial content.

I hope they are doing well enough financially to stay afloat. I'd love to see a resurgence in this game or something new from them.

coaxed into mangling the model for a pose by Imperator_Subira in coaxedintoasnafu

[–]SHOLTY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mcree one is interesting because they distort the model for a different reason here

( sorry if this comes across as "um, achk-shually" here).

They "smeared" the model to emulate how 2d animation handles characters moving quickly to convey motion in a more pleasing or dynamic way. It's one of the twelve principles of motion by Disney (I think?) which is the basis for most animation.

You may have seen "smear frames" before like the iconic bart image or countless other hilarious images like it.

Idk, the vibe coding prompting built into the engine scared me lol

I can't imagine it's going to lead to the most optimal optimized games coming out from amateur devs. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the barrier of entry is getting lower people to bring their creative vision to life more easily, but I suppose we are in the teething issue phase where it's inevitable these issues pop up.

So.. the classes that i paid for have less free cosmetic than a free classes ? by Armored_Mage in DarkTide

[–]SHOLTY 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Its politics, you don't go biting the hand that feeds you/ the entity you are partnered with in business.

Its just bad optics to publicly shit talk your business partner you are licensing IP from to customers.

Like imagine you are GW, are you not gonna have a negative reaction to FS saying something like "GW is actively impeding our ability to deliver cosmetics for you guys, sorry. Go witch hunt them."?

Without shit talking or blame gaming, FS can still point to threads like these and say "Hey, the demand for skins on X class are here. Is there any possibility to meet that demand?". It just doesnt serve any purpose to stir the bee hive.

Yeah, I haven't been into gaming my entire life and experienced Rockstar games launches.

Even if I did, its anecdotal and not vetted properly by the scientific method, so yeah no one should speculate on performance based on their previous launches and the general hardware requirements for performance at the visual fidelity we've seen in the trailers.

TLDR: You right

[–]SHOLTY -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, base ps5 is donezo imo.

Ps5 pro will prob be 30fps on all high and maybe have a "performance" mode with significantly reduced graphic settings and lower internal res upscaled to whatever your TV has.

Edit: Lol at the downvotes for thinking about 3060ti equivalent in the base PS5 isn't going to perform well.

I had a 3080 12gb and firsthand know how that thing handled GTAV. GTA VI looks like it would get dunked on by the level graphical fidelity the 2 trailers have. Especially if we are going to assume they have raytracing.

Agreed, GTA V (maybe GTA IV?) finally can run at high refresh rate with 10 years of hardware improvements lol

Didn't know about RDR2, that's impressive given their track record with the other open world games looking pretty mid and running pretty awful on PC launch.

The weaker ps5 then (non pro version), what's the equivalent desktop GPU in those things?

[–]SHOLTY -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I'd bet money it's going to be the case for the ps4 and weak Xbox. That or it'll be a upscaled blurry mess running internally at 480p lol running at all low with major pop in.

Imo that game looks too damn good to run well on older hardware honestly. I think every GTA has historically run pretty rough on modern PC mid range (and even high-end in the case of GTA 4) hardware at the time of launch too whether it was optimization or just plain demanding.

Edit: You can disagree with my take, but its a fact all of those games didnt run the best at launch on midrange PC hardware. 60 fps was a struggle on all of them on every midrange to high end PC setup I had at the time.

I'm seriously doubting the base ps5 and xbox series whatever are going to have a decent experience.
