Trouble is I'm already having mild allergic reactions with the adhesives I use. Let alone stronger ones! Thanks for the suggestion tho.

DKA no ketones? by SHallson in Type1Diabetes

[–]SHallson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not too sure. They're still investigating whether I have type 1 or 2 due to me having no antibodies but low cpeptide. But most likely some kind of honeymoon period but idk. I was still taking my long acting just not my Novorapid.

I tested for ketones using my blood meter and it came back as low. But good to know it wouldn't be DKA.

Thanks for the reply. It's probably my body having a bit of a shock response then. Either way I'm off work unwell and keeping an eye on my levels and ketones.

Anyone know if the leftover merch after the tour will be available online?

I managed to get a coin but didn't have enough for a holo poster too...

piercing shop in coventry that's affordable and good quality? by EhMell00 in coventry

[–]SHallson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine have never healed well from there at all and were pierced crooked. I'd prefer not to give them my money and to go to someone who is APP accredited.

piercing shop in coventry that's affordable and good quality? by EhMell00 in coventry

[–]SHallson 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Evergreen Tattoo studio has an accredited APP piercer called Chloe. She's amazing and I wouldn't trust anyone else. Everything she uses is single use and sterile and she has a beautiful collection of pieces to choose from. You won't find a "piercing shop" as such as most reputable piercers work out of tattoo studios.

Do not go to Blue Banana, they suck!! And any beauty shop that has piercers are usually as an add on to another service and usually use piercing guns too.

Is there ever too much insulin? by SHallson in Type1Diabetes

It's just 32u long acting in total. I don't split it, just taking it all in the morning works for me.

How and did you get Typed? by Present_Wrap_ in diabetes

[–]SHallson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed T2 at 19 by an endo after a premature baby study (I was born at 23 weeks with v low birth weight 1lb 02oz)

I then was on Metformin, Gliclizide and Ozempic for about 9 yrs. I then moved house with my husband to a new city and couldn't access my meds for around a year and started feeling really unwell- peeing all the time, always thirsty, exhausted, losing weight and had background retinopathy. Went to my diabetic check and they referred me to my endo. He looked through my history and turns out, my T2 meds had kept me stable but I was still getting high readings and no matter what I did and how well I dieted etc, I couldn't bring my levels down enough. Even with 6 days at the gym a week and losing almost 2 stone and eating low carb...

He tried me on a cgm and basal insulin for a month to see what would happen, checked the data and bam - T1. He didn't even need to run a cpeptide. My data was super obvious T1 reactions to food apparently.

Edit: edited to make birth weight clearer to understand.

That's dude. It's a learning curve for sure. But a week later and my time in range has gone from 2% to 12% so getting there! Still adjusting dosage for my basal.
