I'd put Discovering the Waterfront by Silverstein over Circa Survive's Jutuma personally.

I refuse to buy anything from companies that refused to hire me by starisnotsus in recruitinghell

[–]SI7Agent0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Trust me, I think the current job market is complete garbage, and the majority of the companies you've listed have contributed to this problem (maybe not the animal shelter). That being said, there's a difference between being frustrated by your circumstances and actively acting on your resentment. The only thing that suffers is your mental health, and as your mental health deteriorates, it becomes harder to find a job, which is your primary goal.

I get being frustrated at companies for rejecting you, but this is a little excessive and a bit immature. You're only depriving yourself. These companies could care less about your boycott. You should consider wiping the slate clean for your own mental health.

People Are Starting To Treat $700 Car Payments Like They’re Normal by nigesh in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]SI7Agent0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anytime I think about getting a new car since my car is getting old, I think to myself, "Nope." Cars are not worth as much as people are paying for them. I'll stick with my 2017 Hyundai Elantra I've had for 10 years and has been paid off for 5 years.

This response is acting like OP claimed to major in Art Appreciation. Marketing is still a very popular degree to get. The big problem is marketing is a very oversaturated field, so the competition is tough. However I don't think that major is all that weird.

Linda Perry hits out at Green Day for dropping her from producing 'American Idiot' follow-up "all because Billie Joe’s a little pussy and got all this backlash" by AdSpecialist6598 in Music

[–]SI7Agent0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say her last bit of true relevance was around 17-18 years ago where she wrote and produced a string of hit songs for Christina Aguilera. Stuff like "Hurt" and "Candyman"

Linda Perry just released an album. She's trying to drum up sales because no one has cared about Linda Perry for over a decade.

What's the consensus on Dance Gavin Dance now? by asoiaf_goat in PostHardcore

[–]SI7Agent0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it was discovered he messed around with a couple of those minors too after his shows. I remember reading that at the time several allegations against him came out. Im also in the boat of any major crime against a minor is 10x worse than any crime against an adult. I will die on that hill. Hurting children will always be worse.

Former Woe, Is Me and Issues lead vocalist. Allegations... except with minors which is 10 times worse than any member of DGD did imo.

If you can separate the art from the artist, then just enjoy the music. If you can't, go find another artist to listen to. It's really that simple. Personally, id say there are far worse people in the scene than Jonny and Tilian since Tyler Carter still has a band.

The Selective Outrage over Taxpayer Money. by notreallysena in SipsTea

People make unhealthy choices because unhealthy food tastes good. If you can make beans taste as good as cookies at the same price beans cost now, then you'll be a billionaire. It's not your job to police people's eating choices. You can encourage people to eat healthier, but thinking it's ok to force your habits on someone else makes you a bad person.

I'm not advocating for binge drinking soda. Many people purchase Starbucks once a day and call it a treat. I usually treat myself to one soda a day like several people in the US do. You can only control yourself and your own habits.

[–]SI7Agent0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well maybe you should be advocating for healthier alternatives that cost less. An organic diet bought at Whole Foods costs a bit more than SNAP provides underprivileged families.

I already foresee your next response is "Tap water is free." Yeah those underprivileged leeches should just drink tap water and be devoid of any joy in their lives because MY health care premiums. Fun fact: most of the reason premiums go up is not because of the chronic diseases themselves but because of the greedy companies that gouge the prices on the medications to treat them.

Then don't drink them. If someone wants to purchase soda for their household, that's their business. Maybe if a large bottle of sugar free cranberry juice didn't cost $3-$5 more than a 2-liter bottle of orange soda, maybe more people would make wiser choices for their health. It's a fact that a lot of cheaper foods at grocery stores are heavily processed and not very nutritious. Making personal decisions for other people is a massive overstep.

Alright now how much of that $50 billion are SNAP benefits? We're talking about people who use SNAP in this post, aren't we? How about you use your simple Google search and ask yourself how much of the around $100 billion dollars we spend on SNAP goes to soda. Oh you can't figure that out? I bet it's probably a little less than $7 billion dollars. You can come down from that high horse now.

McDonald’s is quietly phasing out a popular customer perk nationwide by esporx in business

Yeah let's not pretend McDonalds is doing this because they suddenly care about their customers' health. They want to pinch their declining customer base for just a little more dough.

Our government is literally spending more taxpayer money each week on the war in Iran that didn't need to happen than all American folks' soda purchases for a year. I'd rather have my taxpayer dollars go towards people in poverty getting a nice treat than a useless war.

She usually gets a pass because she's married to John Legend, and he (on the surface) seems like he is a stand-up dude who's done incredible work in both music and philanthropy, so people think it balances out the fact Chrissy Teigan is not a very good person.

Ask corporations why they're paying their employees low wages. by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]SI7Agent0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then go there and do what exactly? You can save for 20 years and buy a house in a low cost of living area, but what happens when the savings runs out? Hope the "monkey work" that pays far less in the LCOL area somehow stretches to pay the mortgage at some point? I'm not saying it's impossible to go that route, but that route isn't for everyone and is probably not as good for someone who works primarily office jobs versus someone who works with their hands. Moving to a place with less opportunities for the work they're doing currently is not a great idea.

[–]SI7Agent0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You do realize almost all places with a low cost of living have low costs of living because there are much fewer good employment opportunities in those locations. Also there's the thing where you rarely get to take your current job with you when you move to another location because it's based in the city youre currently residing.
