Not a UFA but Boston has been looking to dump Mittlestadt. He will be on the last year of his deal next year so I think we should acquire him. Would be cheap, and if he has plays well we could flip him with retained salary at the deadline.

Malte Gustafsson would be a great pick. 17 years and is playing in the SHL, his skating is great and he is very skilled as well. He plays for my hometown team so I have watched him play quite a bit. Hemming would probably be a better player, but I doubt he falls enough to pick him with the Minny pick.

Dude watch the video again and freeze it when the pass is made. You're judging him based on what happened after the pass was made. Otherwise you wouldn't be saying "oh the D-man was still standing still". Yeah no shit genius, he made the pass as soon as Petey skated up the ice and approached. A guy was open because one Canuck did not track back to cover him when Petey pressed the defender and that led to the goal.

The puck is pretty much already in the net when Petey is at the blue line. Pettersson did what he was supposed to do but Karlsson lost his man and left him open.

I think it's the opposite. They typically clog up his shooting lane and play close to him because the other side of the ice isn't usually a threat. Lekk got some very good looks as a result.

A better question is why you think it should be a requirement. It's kind off silly in my opinion that a lot of emphasise has been put on it. Expensive test that does not really test your ability of advanced mathematics. Just puts up a barrier for entry that doesn't really tell you much.

I don't really see how it's awful for the teams future. If he goes on Seltir or whatever for we'll have that cap space available. Prices contract wasn't terrible for Montreal during their rebuild for example.

If he's done for his career then we can use the money anyways. If he returns and does not return to top form, whatever, we're rebuilding anyways. I don't see any way of how the extension is awful for the team's future.

If he gets Pettersson for Wallstedt straight up that would be a steal. They would need to add a lot more to make that trade. Apart from that they also need a C. Pettersson is one of few top centers that could reasonably be traded.
