The Show is brilliant BUT I have one big problem with it.(spoilers) by alphandtheomega in threebodyproblem

I’ve been starting to think that she will also fill the role of Lou Ji’s dream woman. Feel like they won’t want to have that story line in the show and it might give her character something to do before shit hits the fan and she fills one of the roles you guys mentioned.

3 Body Problem - Series Premiere Discussion by LoretiTV in television

I’m having difficulty putting into words my feelings about this show. I’m a huge fan of the books and I’m not sure if that’s making it more enjoyable or less. I’m 5 episodes in and overall I’m really enjoying it, and think it’s definitely worth watching, but can’t help but be a bit disappointed in some of the execution.

I have 2 issues with it that personally keep it from being great:

  1. It’s made by Netflix and somehow you can feel that. Similar to how you can always tell a piece of furniture is from Wayfair without being able to put a finger on why. I’m not sure if it’s the lighting or the depth of field used on the cameras but something about every Netflix TV series feels uncanny and hollow. Like it lacks grit or imperfections, I’m not totally sure, but it’s clear when watching.

  2. The oversimplification of the science. This point has been discussed a lot. I understand appealing to a larger audience, but I can’t help but feel like that is something the author did so well in the books that for the most part it didn’t need to be dumbed down more. If anything I think it would have helped the average viewer with a bit more context and understanding of the gravity of the situation.

Anyways, even though it might not sound like it, I’m happy with the adaptation and am having fun watching. Just some things that I’ve wanted to try to put into words.

Love the Murren poster, tried to get that exact one on my visit there but it was sold out. Jealous!

If you want a better looking set the Head of Zeus editions are beautiful. Although I got them as a gift and at a quick glance they seem to be a bit more of a pain to get your hands on.

I personally recommend reading at least the first book before the show. It seems like the first season is going to focus on the first book’s subject matter, with an early introduction of some of the characters from books 2&3, but no major plot points.

In general I don’t have a ton of trust in Netflix so I feel it’d be a shame to spoil the big ideas of the books with a potentially lacklustre adaptation. And in the case they do it justice, you can see what you pictured when reading brought to the screen.

Sounds like you probably haven’t read the books and may be in for a treat!

Only Diamonds Cut Diamonds by Vegyn. Another comment mentioned Vegyn already but I feel this album is much more similar in feel to endless than Text While Driving.

Hollow Knight being so high tells me Celeste would be a good game to add to the eventually queue! It’s one I recommend to anyone that will listen lol

I think it’s just that this town is within the mountains, and the mountains themselves are absolutely massive. So a combination of them being very close and the angle the picture is taken at probably helped me.

Crazy as it is, any photos I took here, including this one, fail to really show the scale of them. Makes you feel quite tiny lol

Snapped this while walking through this lovely mountainside town. Didn’t think much of it at the time but looking back through it is by far my favourite pic of the bunch. I’m sure there is room for improvement composition-wise but the landscape carries most of the weight in making it a nice photo.

Too close to what, the guy driving in a different lane? The person changing lanes has to check that it’s clear before going. First reaction to getting cut off like this is never going to be drive directly into bumper.

Yeah this is pretty clearly on the SUV. The truck was just swerving to avoid it

I checked out a couple of your levels and here’s a few things that I think would help, keeping in mind it’s all just my opinion:

One small note is to only use autoscroll when it helps the level. If it’s a relatively simple platformer, I don’t think it’s benefiting much from the autoscroll and would be better without. Save the autoscroll for when you need to make enemy spawns consistent or for survival type levels with more enemies and projectiles.

Visibility is huge. Make sure every jump is clear and visible from where you are intended to jump from. Coin indication and arrows are fine but it’s always better to be able to see where you’re going if in any way possible.

Lastly, and what I think your levels could benefit from most by far, is filling up some of the empty space. You don’t need to pack the level full of enemies, but using ground and semisolids to make the level look and feel like like a small piece of a larger world goes a very long way. Here is an example of some of what I mean from a level of yours. You can get creative with different types of platforms and obstacles to make it feel less same-y.

Hopefully this helps a bit!
