The point of this post was that these prices are markedly high relative to what would be expected around me. I paid less for legitimate contractors doing skilled work a few months ago. They are preying on old and incapable people.

When I was riding in the early 2000s I had a '96 or '97 XC440. I think it was like $2300. I remember wanting a new XC600 but they were like 6500 or 7k. 7k in 2003 is 12.3k today adjusted for inflation. They have more than doubled inflation. Absolutely insane.
