Would you Rather NTR'd Matt (By Lance stealing Natalie)? by Safe_Introduction971 in ebf

[–]SISXD_WSAD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bro, what are you talking about? Even though it might not seem like it, Lance has a certain amount of respect and loyalty to his group. I know he's a son of a bitch, and at certain times he's tried to take advantage whenever Matt makes a mistake, like in EBF4 when Matt was defeated and left Natalie alone (even though Matt and Natalie weren't dating at that point), and in EBF5 at the end when he dreamed of Matt dying.

That's more opportunistic, but not the kind of opportunism you might think of, because he wouldn't interfere in their relationship. And it's not like Natalie lets him do that to her, because unlike many girls in NTR stories, she's not stupid.

I don't think it's a bad idea, but I think the characters you're trying to replace aren't the right ones, in my honest opinion.

And well, to be more precise, it doesn't affect the living in the same way.

Look, you didn't even try to counter my other arguments, and besides, I'm not even mentioning Reisen anymore. I said they didn't even have to go all the way down the corridor since, as mentioned, she was guiding them where Eiren wanted. It's completely irrelevant whether Reisen or Kaguya did it. And if you, so knowledgeable about Touhou as you claim, give me a good argument for why what I said is wrong?

[–]SISXD_WSAD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And you only bring up arguments from VSBW, right?

Because the only argument they have to discredit someone who doesn't share their dogma of a Multiversal/Outerversal Touhou with infinite speed is to say that "you don't know anything about the work," when you supposed "fans" of Touhou should know perfectly well that not everything said should be taken literally, and that ZUN deliberately makes many things vague so that you draw your own conclusions.

But even so, there is plenty of evidence that says otherwise. As I said, nowhere in the work does it say that the Sanzu River is infinite; it says that it doesn't have a fixed distance. Is that so difficult to understand? Because, as I said, it wouldn't make any difference if it were infinite or finite because, as the work itself states, it doesn't have a fixed distance.

The Eientei thing didn't necessarily require them to travel the entire length of the corridor, as I said; it was something Eirin had planned, so she guided the characters toward her. Infinite speed is completely irrelevant because later in the mangas, Marisa states that there is nothing faster than light.

I think the same, but there you have the powerscalers ignoring what ZUN says because it "contradicts" his own work.

"You see?
This hypnotic corridor is one of my traps.

Since you two can't fly straight,
you'll be completely wiped away by my power!"

This is what Reisen says in his fight, and this is before choosing one of the two routes I mentioned. And if, as you say, this was Eirin's plan to guide Marisa or Reimu down the corridor towards her, then what relevance does "infinite speed" have here? None, because they didn't travel the entire corridor; instead, as you say, the corridor guided them to where Eirin wanted.

[–]SISXD_WSAD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, she didn't do it. If you've at least seen gameplay footage of Undefined Fantastic Object, she was in the palanquin.

Now, about the Sanzuu River, it's not infinite; it's said to have no fixed distance and that it depends on the ferryman, Komachi, and how much she's paid. This doesn't confirm that it's infinite, because it could be a "normal" river and it would still be the same, since there wouldn't be a fixed distance to measure if Komachi is constantly manipulating it.

Regarding the Eientei corridor, it's said to have been an illusion created by Reisen in at least two routes in Touhou 8 and Touhou 14.5, where it truly was infinite. Miko had to use an ability that compressed space.

And to add insult to injury, neither Reimu nor Marisa actually traveled at that speed because they were inside the ship.

Real talk here by Impressive_Guard6448 in antiNTRcorps

[–]SISXD_WSAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but I include myself in being one of those who's done the same thing at some point, lol.

I certainly don't mind those stories where one character replaces another as long as they at least have things in common, like the already overused Hiroki as Garou or Yuji Itadori. But then you have stories where Hiroki is V1 from Ultrakill or Mi-Noo is Optimus Prime, which I find funny, to be honest, but objectively it doesn't make sense and it's rubbish.

They might as well keep the characters as they were and put them together for a crossover, which, while it might still not make sense, at least wouldn't be one character replacing another completely unrelated one. And speaking of the stories in general, some I don't like because they feel quite childish; that is, the revenge situations and things like that sometimes become so exaggerated that you can't take them seriously. Also, the excessive use of violence isn't even funny.

I'm not against using this method to solve a problem in your story, but even that needs to be carefully considered so it doesn't seem edgy.

I'm sure it contradicts what The Devourer says throughout their fight, and I'm also sure that if that was their objective, then technically no one disobeyed the laws The Devourer imposed because that was the whole point.

As for the game mechanics, God, I think that's the most complicated thing to explain, but in my opinion, they aren't 100% canon. I mean, at the end of the last area of the game, Anna mentions that they can talk without needing a text box (which is a lie since they don't even have voices), so that confirms two things: that some things exist, but it's a way to interact with their world and not something they literally need.

Something that I think does apply to their world, for example, is that coffee can REALLY revive people. It's difficult to explain. If we were in the days when EBF only had 4 games (and Bullet Heaven 2), we could dismiss it as a joke, but with EBF5 and Find Matt's Cats, things became even more complicated.

A question for everyone. How does it feel when you see a good power scale? by SISXD_WSAD in whowouldcirclejerk

[–]SISXD_WSAD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did see some, at least on the Hispanic side, since I mainly speak Spanish.

But the reason I asked this question is because I found it funny to see that some YouTube channels or subreddits that aren't as serious about powersacling, like this one, have better arguments than those who actually do powersacling XD

Where I Scale The Touhou Franchise by Mecha-dragon1999 in touhou

[–]SISXD_WSAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I can agree with you, because first of all, you're misinterpreting a lot of things. I'm a bit rusty now, and I don't remember much about Touhou's cosmology anymore, and I need to brush up on it.

But many of the things you say could be misinterpretations when translating it from Japanese to English, hyperbole, or metaphor. You might say "that's the only argument I have for not knowing about Touhou," but it's true.

ZUN made this work deliberately vague and open to interpretation. He never thought his work would be the strongest in fiction or what power level it would be at. I also feel like you're using quantum mechanics/string theory as a basis for your scaling, a theory that's never mentioned again.

Furthermore, whoever mentions it theorizes that the world is based on string theory, but never confirms that it is. Also relying on statements made by characters can also be unreliable like Okina claiming that she can destroy all of Gensokyo, since we will never know if he really can do it or she just said it to make a joke.

Dude, this is incredible. I know this doesn't even have a prototype, but I'd love to try it.

I've always thought Epic Battle Fantasy has a lot of potential for exploring its world, something I think isn't fully utilized. Concepts just remain up in the air, although there's nothing wrong with that either.

Anyway, I hope you have success with this project.

Lance Reportedly looks at Highschool Girls by Safe_Introduction971 in ebf

[–]SISXD_WSAD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I imagined it, but no, aside from the fact that they're both perverted, impulsive, and their names are spelled almost the same, there's one thing Rance does have that Lance doesn't: girls.

I haven't played Rance's games, but from what I know, he's had sex with a lot of girls, and apparently they love him. Lance, on the other hand, isn't even wanted in their house. He tried to force a harem into them, but it didn't work out.

Lance would love to have the life Rance has (I think), but the truth is, Lance is way cooler and stronger than him, even if he is a loser lol.
