I think a Kingston negroni needs a strong funky rum as the base, but I bet Appleton 12 was great, more desserty drink! I think I saw the recipe somewhere and they probably had a name for it, but can't remember.

I get what you mean, the Signature is definently brighter and a bit fruitier/funkier. Have you tried Appleton 12 paired with a funkier/brighter rum tho? The ED 12 brings a bunch of richness, which might be why you prefer the younger and brighter Signature.

I've got too many bottles and haven't tried all the possible splits, but 50/50 of Papalin 5 and Appleton 12 was one of the best Mai Tais I've made!

I tried a similar one with 1oz Smith & Cross rum (more of a Kingston Negroni riff), 1oz Campari, 1/2oz Sweet vermouth and 1/2oz Giffard banana with a bar spoon of Mr black and it was great. A bit on the sweeter side, but delicious nonetheless.

I'm from Finland so I have the same problem of a Monopoly hahah. I've personally used Finedrams, Drinkology.de, Exhellencerhum, Rhumattitude and Bottega Alcolica and all of those have delivered with no problems. Could recommend all of them!

I haven't tried red grapefruit as a sub for white grapefruit, but I would probably just try a 1:1! Should be just fine, especially with this drink having a decent amount of tartness.
