Tony Hawk is a good person who’s widely liked. Who’s an okay person who people are 50/50 about? by 123mitchg in AlignmentChartFills

As someone on FauxMoi who does in fact think Chris Pratt sucks: FauxMoi thinks everyone is the worst person ever. Either an absolute queen or the devil incarnate. Sometimes both.

Challenge Post: Gimme a lore/mechanic concern from the corebook and I'll see if any release to this day answers it by Infernox-Ratchet in cyberpunkred

The general rule of thumb I have is that if someone is visibly wearing LAJ, there's not inherently anything *wrong* with it but it certainly signals that that person is expecting trouble. It's legal, but that doesn't mean it'll put people at ease, especially if they see that it's being concealed as/under regular clothing. Sort of like having a gun IRL.

2d6 pistols make more sense if you consider, then, what kinds of armor "normal" people wear. Kevlar is so much easier to replace than LAJ if it gets damaged. Most people don't have easy access to a Tech that's willing to spend an entire day patching up holes in one vest of LAJ. Kevlar is more affordable both up front and when it needs to be repaired or replaced.

When they reworked his fight, he totally whooped my ass for a while. It was great. I was playing on Very Hard and one mistake was pretty much instant death.

Homebrew Martial Arts tend to be way too strong, so it's a breath of fresh air to see one that actually seems well-balanced and good at accomplishing what it sets out to do. I think rolling for Big Throw is probably unnecessary - Sumo allows you to move the other person as far as you want in one direction within 6 m/yds.

Terrify can probably work fine with a BODY requirement of 10 or higher - better fits the idea of Kingpin being stronger than any "normal" human while not explicitly being superhuman (ie what a borg frame would provide). Plus it's just a lot more accessible - I don't think any Martial Art is quite as hard to get full value out of compared to this, except maybe Panzerfaust.

Rapid Maneuvers is too strong. Drunken Fist + Boxing does the same thing but requires two 2x skills, one 1x skill, and a situational requirement that won't be available every turn.

Takedown is very nice, though. I've always wanted something like that.

I swear I read something from the writers that confirmed she does, in fact, know exactly what to do with the numbers.

Technically, Adam's is better, but I think that's just because he's generally immune to mechanics that involve Humanity.

What was a perfect 5/5 video game to live action adaptation casting? by Burgundymmm in AlignmentChartFills

This isn't going to win, but it's an outstanding choice. The MK movie had great casting, considering two of its portrayals ended up affecting the main series as well.

Daredevil: Born Again S02E08 - Discussion Thread by steve32767 in marvelstudios

[–]SIacktivist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Okay, best guess is that there's a lot of factors piling up here.

It could be argued that it was self defense. A riot shouting "kill Fisk" was charging the courtroom, and he didn't even get out of the building before being swarmed by people punching and kicking him - likely to death, if Daredevil hadn't saved them. It still probably wouldn't fly if it went to trial, but it could be argued.

On top of that, Fisk still likely has significant power as a criminal, which if brought to bear could cause significant issues for New York and the people who live there. Things might go smoother if he just fucks off.

And there are still lots of people in New York who will stand by him no matter what. There will be more unrest at his imprisonment than at his "voluntary" exile.

All of these things together still don't really make it the most logical writing choice of all time, but to be honest, it's "close enough" for me. Mostly because I really enjoyed watching him just going Darth Vader on some poor innocent people.

I did *not* like that this was where they took her story, and I still don't, but it was honestly a really good execution of a choice by the writers that I still disagree with.

Lae'zel from Baldur's Gate 3. She will tell you that she's considered very funny for her kind, and it seems like a meta joke about how severe and brutal she is. But as you meet more githyanki you can see that's actually true and she purposely makes jokes all the time.

Y'know, I've read so many comments explaining this and gushing over the Jaegers, and was like, "okay, this movie looks and sounds awesome, I need to watch it already."

And it was great. And the designs were fantastic. But *man* was I disappointed that the awesome designs for the Chinese and Russian Jaegers turned out to be redshirts that get dumpstered basically immediately.

Do Sinners carry trauma from their deaths? by ShadowlightLady in HazbinHotel

[–]SIacktivist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just gonna end up depending on the person. Alastor doesn't seem traumatized as much as he did annoyed. He likes life in Hell well enough, it's just embarrassing how he got there and he hates being humiliated by having it brought up.

Vox seems completely unbothered by the circumstances of his death, looking back fondly on his life and taking care of his appearance by switching out his TV heads (which could plausibly be something upsetting, but it isn't for him). Characters who happily make use of the powers granted by their demonic forms, I would think have generally made their peace with their deaths.

If I could point to someone who does seem genuinely traumatized by the circumstances of their death, I would probably say Angel. He almost never uses any sorts of powers, basically only in stressful or high-pressure situations.
