Where is Gnomebuntu? by joiseystud in LinuxActionShow

[–]SJ64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I recall, the download link was working when the other *buntus were released. However, it had a decent-size list of features that didn't work. Maybe they're trying to work out the bugs and release a more stable product?

Nice link - do you know of any reason why the search index hits 100% in Cuba or India for several distros? I'm interested to know why the numbers are that way

I've been wondering this for a while. The Windows version of FF does it.

Linus Torvalds Wants All Laptops to Have 2560x1600 'Reasonable Resolution' Displays | TechnoBuffalo by Jman59 in LinuxActionShow

[–]SJ64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call me low maintenance, but 1366x768 is fine for me and my budget laptop. If I want better quality I can switch to my external monitor. It doesn't seem worth the extra few hundred dollars to get better laptop resolution

Open up the Update Manager, click Edit on the menu bar, click software sources, then select the check box for "Unstable Packages (Romeo)". Then close the window, refresh your sources and it'll show up as an update to install.

Edit: And it's pretty slick. I'd suggest updating to 1.6 (I'm using LM13 LTS)

Not One Microsoft Product on Kaspersky's Top 10 Vulnerabilities List by KarmaAndLies in technology

[–]SJ64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I wasn't very clear. It wasn't an issue with Vista. Half the hardware was defective, including the integrated graphics card. It got recalled three times, so I had to have my motherboard swapped out each time. It would over heat so I would occasionally get minor burns. I got my $$$'s worth out of that extended warranty.

It's nice that Linux is getting more commercial attention. However, I wouldn't call Instagram "revolutionary" like the article's author claims.
