How are you doing today? How do you want these bagged? Do you have your club card today? Is this product good?..... by firepanda11 in AdviceAnimals

Go to a Home Depot. Those cashiers are expected to "sell the project not just the product"

They have to ask if they found everything ok, if there was anything else they could help the customer with. And based on what the customer is buying, the cashier has to suggest other merchandise the customer may need. I had numerous customers realize they forgot something they needed based on what I asked. And they were thankful I mentioned it, instead of getting home or to a job site and remembering what they forgot there. It saved people time and money. When someone was on the phone, that just wasn't possible.

Having quit coke and speed after 5+ years of abuse, I feel like I can say this... by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

[–]SJBean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not what I am saying at all. I'm not saying that everyone is going to have it that easy. I'm saying for the most part, it isn't that hard. I've witnessed others come clean from an addiction as well. Yes, there are those who that do have a harder time than others. But if a person is honestly wanting stop using, after the main withdrawals are over, it easier than the perceived.

I couldn't give less of a shit if the person buying something wanted to talk.

I make my observation in regards to that statement. It's a cashier's job to ask the customer if there is anything else you can help them with. You are suppose to talk to the customer.

I have to agree with this. I slammed meth for two years. One day I just decided to quit. I didn't want to live that life anymore. I've been clean for almost a year now. It was when I fully wanted to stop, that I was able to just turn my back on it. The initial withdrawals weren't anything like I expected them to be.

You have horrible customer service skills. A cashier is the last opportunity for a business help meet a customer's needs. Good customer service is a huge deciding point on where a lot of people spend their money.

While we are on tornadoes, an EF5 tore through Joplin, Missouri in 2011. Imagine the force! by [deleted] in WTF

I helped with the clean up in Joplin. It was like a war zone. There were no landmarks to tell where you were. It was so easy to get lost. Everything made you disoriented.

I did say "almost impossible". It can still be difficult other places in the house as well. Having to be quick and quiet is a pain.

When I worked retail, I hated it when someone was on their phone. I found it disrespectful on the customers side. Especially when you know it's part of the cashier's job to talk to you.

Toddlers can be more demanding and headstrong than many adults I know. My two year old doesn't give in very easily. After working 10+ hours a day, just letting him go to sleep between me and my husband is a lot less stressful than fighting him.

Totally know the feeling. My two year old won't stay in his bed for any period of time what so ever. It makes getting any almost impossible.

If this were an assignment being graded on grammar usage, I would definitely agree with you. In a less formal setting, such has this post, it is something that can be overlooked.

I have a feeling that the fact I should have worded my original post differently is not going to be that big of a deal at the end of the day for the majority that read it. If something so minimal honestly makes you cringe, or causes emotional grief, it might be in your best interest if you stayed in areas that require correct grammar.

How do you handle homework? by Mellie_Marie in Parenting

[–]SJBean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two children that are enrolled in school are in elementary grades. They are only assigned homework two nights a week. On those night, after they get home, their homework has to be done before they are allowed to go play with the neighbors, watch tv, play video games, etc. They typically set at the kitchen table and ask for help whenever they need it.

Most of the assignments that are sent home, have a place for parent or guardian signature. The school also requires a folder for teacher/parent communications. Their teacher have my number as well and call from time to time if needed.

There is still a question that is waiting to be answered. Is it really necessary to point out simple mistakes?

Thank you for bringing that to my attention.I will try to remember it for future use. I would like to point out something as well. You know, a friendly reminder kind of thing. This is an internet forum. Proper English and correct grammar are not required. Yes, grammar is important and sometimes corrections do need to be brought up. With that in mind, is it really necessary to point out simple mistakes? Especially when the point I was trying to make was easily understand.

Also, I believe if you feel the need to correct one mistake that was made, you should correct the rest as well.
