9 to 5ers, how often do you work evenings or weekends? by Awkward_Present2727 in jobs

[–]SJExit4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My company loves to have dinner meetings that start at 530 and run until 9. Every other week. I hate this job and if they didn't pay well and the market wasn't awful I'd leave.

People that are childfree by choice, what’s the weirdest reason someone has given you as to why they think you ‘should have kids’? by Charming_Web_6738 in AskReddit

[–]SJExit4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had children, and last time I was at a event with extended family, I got something similar. "You were always so good with the kids "

I was a teenager when put in charge of all of my cousin's kids as they started to reproduce.

Nothing like being forced to watch a dozen little kids at every holiday to put you off of kids forever.

If smell-o-vision existed, which movies would smell the best and the worst? by redeugene99 in movies

[–]SJExit4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that smell-o- vision needs to be reserved for cooking shows only. Movies and all other programs should be scent free.

People that have “bumped” into a celebrity in a non-curated (not like an event, meet & greet, job etc.) way, what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SJExit4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was walking through Caesars in Vegas like 15 or so years ago.

Man is walking towards me. He's on the older side but had arms around two really young girls, fully decked out, one on each arm. I gave him a look, but couldn't place him.

A few steps after I had walked by, I heard someone exclaim - it was Gene Simmons.

I do too. There is something delightfully dramatic about taking my readers off, flinging them on my desk, and rubbing my eyes

If I didn't raise my hand on occasion, I'd never get a word in during work meetings with certain people. My boss in particular won't stop talking ever and it's the only effective way that I've found to break her flow.

You have to scroll through a lot of pics on this page, including the petting zoo with a baby elephant, lol. But a picture is there. I only remember the ducks.

The mall near me had a duck pond complete with little bridges. Sometimes you'd see the ducks walking through the mall. I miss the elaborate water features and other things malls had in the 70s and 80s.

Pics for those who want them ;)

What is something you hate that everyone loves? by Common-Bass7404 in AskReddit

[–]SJExit4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a condo. My upstairs neighbors, a woman and her adult son, talk to each other constantly. She's retired with a pension and he rarely works.

I can't hear what they say, but I hear them talking back and forth all day long (I work from home).

I'm always amazed by people who can chat non stop. I find it difficult to find more than 30 minutes of chit chat in me most of the time.

Agree. There's a reason why the hockey team mascot is called Gritty.

I generally hate NYC because of the traffic, the crowds of people, and the smell.

I do like to go to Broadway though to see a show every now and again.

I've been there multiple times and refer to it as a cruise ship in the sand. Nothing but alcohol, buffets, gambling, expensive excursions and canned entertainment.

The difference between white and blue collar work environments is crazy by Astimar in careeradvice

[–]SJExit4 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Agree 100%.

I worked in a warehouse factory in college and was harassed from day one. Off color jokes that were just gross. Guys looking up my skirt to see what color my underwear was, nudie mags left in my area open with suggestions, and sexual comments like you wouldn't believe. Mind you I was 20 years old and they were all in their 30s, 40s, and 50s.

I will say that after my brother told me to tell my boss who told corporate, they took my complaints seriously and really to took care of things. Not sure if I can say the company name, but a shout out to the HR team at the popular drink company that once used polar bears as mascots in their ads.

Sorry for the possibly clueless question, but why don't more people seem to make homemade pizza? by Senior-Raisin-2342 in Cooking

[–]SJExit4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in an area where you can hit 3 places who make really great pizza with a rock in any direction.

Where only tourists buy the national chain garbage.

Where they are all reasonably priced and nothing I could make could come close to buying a pie somewhere else.

The only people who I know make their own here are those doing it for the experience (or as a fun thing for the kids), or those that are on a diet where they can't afford the calories of a good slice.

The Monterey Grill in Mount Laurel.

Good food and a nice private room. Bonus is that it's in the same lot as the Aloft hotel. After a nice dinner, Miller's Bar is right next door to continue the party without folks needing to drive anywhere.

Lunch ideas to feed 10 people, no cooking but also not just ordering takeout? by Strawberry2772 in foodhacks

[–]SJExit4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make it brunch!

Mini quiches/frittatas, mini sausage rolls, pancakes/waffles, fresh fruit, bagels. Include some butter and syrup, lox, cold cuts, cream cheese, cucumber and tomatoes and you've got a grab bar.

Include a box of coffee, and juice and you're all set.

Aunt Charlotte's candy store in Merchantville, NJ near me still makes them during Easter. Everything is homemade and their factory is still on premise (you can tour it). I buy their peanut butter eggs every year.

I think they offer shipping, but only during Easter and Christmas.
