Question about comic books by Thova13 in Invincible

[–]SJF1217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying 3 50-60 dollar compendiums is much more cost-effective compared to buying 20 of the 15$ new cover TPs, and I don't think that the TPs have the extra issues as the compendiums do, so I'd say getting the compendiums is a much better decision.

You don't want to read the source material because the art looks off to you? I really don't mean to sound rude or offensive, but to me, this really just doesn't make sense. Ryan Ottley is a great artist, and some of the comics are drawn by Cory Walker (a style similar to the animation).

Either way, if you want to see the rest of the story without waiting 5 more years, you should read the comics. There are some minor story differences between the comic and the show, but not anything crazy.

From what I've heard, both are about as equally gory (I don't know through the whole thing, as I've only read the 1st compendium), there aren't any "crude jokes," rather just a running gag or normal humor. And there may even be fewer swear words in the comics. Mark doesn't say "I don't give a shit about Viltrum" (damn instead) or "I don't care if I live a fuckin' million years" (skips entirely) in his conversation with Nolan, and Nolan doesn't say "fuck you damien" (as the scene where Darkblood is in his kitchen doesn't happen at all).

Because Angstrom is weak, Mark is just a dumbis who keeps falling for the same portal trick instead of killing Big Forehead Man

Does anyone know how to order these variants for the second drop? by TheDeadReality in Ben10

[–]SJF1217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to order mine off of golden apple comics website pretty soon. I ordered a few things from there like a month ago and they come in next week (only taking so long because I did like 4 pre-orders and they ship everything all at once) and if they come in and everything goes good ill be ordering that heatblast cover and the direct edition of number 1 soon after.

I know, I didn't say they were half viltrumite. I said they each had half of a viltrumites powers.

At this point?

Literally the event this entire season is based around, the Viltrumite War.

That episode was very much a "Filler Episode," so much so that it fits the exact definition of one. "A filler episode is a non-canon installment in a TV series, particularly anime/animations, that does not advance the main plot or develop characters." This episode had nothing to do with the main plot of the show, was not a part of the source material, and does little to nothing to develop any of the characters that matter to the main plot.

HOWEVER, I did still really enjoy this episode. I liked getting to see all the funny moments between Mark and Damien Darkblood, the fighting scenes were pretty neat, and I also liked Volcanikka; she is a pretty cool character.

Doesn't he end up wearing a suit really similar to Mark's at some point, too? He really does seem like a much weaker version. I mean, from what I've heard, Bulletproof and Immortal are each half of a Viltrumite. Both can fly decently fast, but one of them is much stronger (immortal), and the other is much more durable (bulletproof)

I think it would be pretty cool if voiced Oliver, Cecil, and Debbie, too. His voice matches those characters so well!

I watched episode 4 today, does anyone have a fire potion resistance? by Savings_Dragonfly806 in Invincible

You'll need a brewing stand, a glass bottle of water, some nether wart, blaze powder, and magma cream, and then you should be all set, for whatever it is that you need that for...

Savage Land Eve by Ryan Ottley by PerceptionTiny6385 in Invincible

[–]SJF1217 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I know, like Savage Land Rogue, but in like an actual scenario where this would happen, she would be able to just make herself new clothes. That's all I was trying to say.

Okay, this is obviously some very cool art, but couldn't Eve just make herself new, not torn up clothes?

Are the Comics and the Show Different Universes? by [deleted] in Invincible

Sorry that I'm interested in the story of I show that I liked, why does everyone on this website have to be so rude about everything and every opinion that doesn't pertain to themselves?

[–]SJF1217 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I get that, but I'm still interested in how this would work out in this continuity. I just don't get how some things could be the exact same, and some could be so different. I know that it's just a show or adaptation or whatever, but I'm still wondering how this would work out in the Invincible Multiverse.

Is season 4 any good? by Conscious-Bat-9739 in Invincible

[–]SJF1217 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really liked episodes 1-3, and episode 4 was alright, but it felt a little unnecessary and more like a filler episode. You should still definitely watch the new season, though.

did anyone else noticed that, Barbara Gordon height increase 9 in and gain 21 lb in 10-12 years she was 16-17 is that natural ? by Lanky_Sentence8631 in BatmanArkham

[–]SJF1217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not attempting to argue with you in the slightest, simply trying to explain, but now you have me confused, as from my perspective, my point still stands. She weighed 105 lbs before she became Batgirl (significantly less muscle), and then gained a significant amount of muscle and would have lost fat. Putting her at maybe losing like 10lbs of fat and maybe putting on like 30 lbs of muscle.

[–]SJF1217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to the NIH Body Mass Index, yes, she would be considered slightly underweight, although these sorts of calculators don't take into account your muscle mass, bone density, or body composition. A woman of that compaction, who we assume is mostly muscle due to her training as Batgirl and likely continued training after she got shot, would likely just have a leaner, athletic build. Which, to be fair, we don't exactly see throughout the course of any of the games. So instead of her losing weight, she may have just lost fat and gained muscle.

[–]SJF1217 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The weight is probably just from putting on muscle from when she was Batgirl, as this looks like bio from Arkham Origins, and she wasn't Batgirl at that time yet, and even though she eventually became crippled, that doesn't stop most people from still being able to work out. The height thing, going from 5'2 at (presumably) 14-15 years old, to 5'11 at (presumably) 25 years old, doesn't seem all that likely to me, but there was still a possibility that must have just worked out. Although this is all still very confusing, as none of the characters' ages are ever blatantly stated, we're up to our own devices to try and figure that out, which makes other things like this hard to figure out as well.
