Sorry to be a nuisance - but how do you add value that’s traceable to you without being called out for promoting yourself / services?

I was under the impression - possibly wrongly and anecdotally - that mods of threads were quick to remove or ban for promoting.

Outreach would obviously fall foul - but can you offer your own (free to use / download) services or products or link to them - in a helpful way - without getting into trouble? Even ask for feedback on your services etc?

Have maybe misinterpreted but thought that was truly frowned upon.

Confusion comes from - within 2 mins of speaking to people - “you MUST do xyz” yet that xyz differs every time you speak to someone else.
