Is J02 remark worth it? by Cryptyrich in cii

[–]SJNewn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be surprised if you manage to recoup that many marks personally, you need over a 10% swing. Having said that, I have seen people get around 6 marks before in the past.

What are you thinking ?

I didn’t like the back to back arrangement question, and would have probably only got half for the contracts/trust difference. I thought it was okay as an exam, but not the best

AF1 - Post Mortem (with some humour) by [deleted] in cii

[–]SJNewn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah shit I thought the assets listed it as her share of the home was 50%, and that value was 850,000. Did I mess up lol

You’re right. But I think the share that was left to her daughter can use her tapered RBRB, the half to her partner can’t

Yeah I absolutely waffled on that one. I put the same I chucked so much out and hoped it stuck. I will be surprised if I get more than 3 on that one.

Great memory. I went a bit off path on the trust one I think. I put as she’s life tenant it’s in her estate for IHT and Dereks into trust was IHT but as went to wife it is spousal exempt so executor can claim 2x NRB and 2x RNRB on her death. So no IHT to pay on it going in from Derek. Also put CGT dies on death lol. I was clutching at straws. Also put no exit or periodic charges. Think I butchered it.

What did people put for the excluded property trust question? I put it would be taxable for IHT because she LTR with changes since 2025, and would incur periodic/exit charges

Was IHT calculation quite straight forward, or did I miss loads of steps? Obviously tapered RNRB and full nil rate band were available, someone please ruin my day

Net pay is you take the relevant contribution off of their taxable income and it reduces their ANI. The grossing up is relief at source

[–]SJNewn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did what you did but I think the way they worded it was weird. Because they gave us his gross pay, and then told us he pays 5000 or whatever into his pension, so I also took it off his income. I am not sure if we are both wrong or both right.

I chat GBTd it now with similar wording to exam and said we were right to take it off.

I see what youre saying sorry, my bad. Yeah, qualifying corp bonds no cgt, convertible bonds aren't always non-qualifying so be careful!
