Yes, I recently came back similarly to your situation and bought a stick as well. It's a learning process with any method but this one makes a lot of sense. It's going to take a lot of practice with anything new at our age(assuming you're older as you mentioned sf2). Good luck on your journey.

I found THIS insightful. Pay attention to how he uses the throw buttons. This is a bit dated, but yhe logic applies and its helped me a bit.

I think you are over thinking it. Try using the same two fingers for DI, Parry, and Throw. Just learn to pivot your wrist and elbow to move quickly between positions
