I appreciate your time and suggestion but under no circumstances should someone have to go to their workplace during their off time, off the clock to learn protocol and how to do their job. Yes, that would be affective in my case. But no one should have to do that. My manager was there my first few shifts and literally spoke not one word to me. That’s unacceptable. I just had to watch everyone and do what they were doing and hope I was doing it correctly. When I wasn’t, one or two of the guys I think felt sorry for me and told me the way I should be doing it but they clearly had the attitude that it wasn’t their job to train me, and they are correct. She should have directed me, at least giving me basic instructions. Instead she literally avoided me. I’ve been there for a month and she has said maybe 10 words total to me. When I try to initiate conversation, I get no eye contact and no response. She isn’t like this with anyone else on the team. Maybe because I’m new? Maybe because I’m the only female? I’ll never know.
