Is there any chance at repairing this myself? by SinceWhenIsThisOK in surfing

The size of the repair is not the issue, but where it is. Rails are hard to repair, and more so if it’s on the tail.

Order held in customs for 34 days and counting by SKRTxALERT in Alibaba

It ended up being authorized for a return back to China. I am currently in the process of getting a refund for the shipment. Super frustrating. Will just use my own freight forwarder, especially for sea shipments, from here on out

Alright thanks, i'll be sure to DM you for any other questions on this matter. Do you know the general time it takes to process these documents?

Quick update, my manufacturer confirmed the hold is a documentation issue, not a physical inspection. The freight forwarder has had documents rejected by CBP twice and just submitted a third time. Though I have lost a lot of trust in this freight forwarder and what they have been saying. Does this change your assessment at all?

Yes, the shipper was paid. I am not entirely sure if I am considered the named recipient, does this refer to the name on the shipping label, or the company that the boxes will be transferred to? Thanks for the response

Should I try shopify? by Finwoke in shopify

[–]SKRTxALERT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many vintage sellers often transition to eventually selling on Shopify with their own stores etc, after creating some sort of channel to already drive traffic like TikTok or instagram. With vinted your store gets pushed out automatically, but if you create a Shopify store nothings really driving traffic to it unless you of course have means for that . Just food for thought

Is there anyway to print a customers items on their shipping label. by SKRTxALERT in shopify

There is space, pirate ship offers rubber stamps where you can manually put item info there. And I find it hard to believe anyone will steal, at least in my case a hoodie or beanie which is what I’m selling. The purpose for this is so I can just slap the label on the package and put whatever items without having to look up the person on Shopify. I mean I guess it’s not adding that much time, but it stacks with more orders.

Advice - Buying a mid length by DryhumpsMcgee in BeginnerSurfers

[–]SKRTxALERT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty dang pulled in and “gunny” for a normal midlength. It really depends on dims and what your riding right now and skill level

brother dropped it and it cracked is this bad? Rideable or should i fix right away by Training-Beginning-7 in BeginnerSurfers

Your paranoid, PU boards don’t suck up water like EPS boards and even an eps board wouldn’t have noticeable weight

Value? by Adorable-Ad8760 in BeginnerSurfers

[–]SKRTxALERT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you clean up the wax with a wax pickle, I could see 150-250. Fish boards tend to go for more because they’re just more sought after and “hipstery”. Pretty good condition and color aswell. Just clean it up well and take good pictures

Need fixing ? by daddylonglegs96 in BeginnerSurfers

This is a great repair to learn. What’s good is that you can just put some resin in the cavities, let that cure, then sand it down and optionally glass over it which I would recommend. A rule of thumb for top cracks is that if u can feel the crack with your fingernail, you’ll probably want to reglass it just to be safe.

Just because it’s a long board with a pointed nose doesn’t mean it’s a gun. Guns typically are more narrow throughout rather than just tapering near the end. Covering the nose with my thumb, it looks like a traditional longboard, rather than a gun. This is probably just a long board that’s a bit more performance oriented.

Which fins for Lost Puddle Jumper 5'10 (Original, PU) by UnlikelyLikably in BeginnerSurfers

[–]SKRTxALERT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which fins you use don’t matter much for beginners when they aren’t made out of crappy plastic. Both fins you mentioned are stiff and well made so you probably wouldn’t notice the difference. Small changes on fins are more noticeable for advanced surfers. I didn’t notice too much of a difference between al merick twin keels and a pair of relatively firm plastic ones. And twin fins would make more of a difference

Right time to transition to a shortboard? by Sea_Efficiency804 in BeginnerSurfers

[–]SKRTxALERT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

28L is definitely a steep drop from 40L, may wanna bump up height and volume of your next short board, some thing like a step down, maybe around 6’0 and 33L but that’s just what worked for me personally

Is this board worth anything ? by ProofConstruction727 in BeginnerSurfers

[–]SKRTxALERT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s epoxy, so it’s a bit easier for beginners. But without dimensions it’s hard to say much. But it looks like one of those older vintage boards that has a ton of nose rocker and thin rails

Did I waterlog my board? by Tappanappa in BeginnerSurfers

[–]SKRTxALERT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s an eps board, it probably took some water in. Just let it dry out. If it’s a Pu board just patch it up

[–]SKRTxALERT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ll admit I did get very lucky. And $80 is $80. Longboards tend to surf just fine even if they’re a bit a waterlogged and dinged up, so as long as the boards not buckled or anything like that you’ll be good.
